Well that makes more sense of why he wanted to leave.

..... and the wodge of cash they were offering him!
Money grab before retiring - I can't blame him but I don't miss his show in the slightest.
And the gardening leave. Yeah good for him.

He wasn't exactly ill-paid at the Beeb.
I just looked them up, I figured GHR must be owned by someone big to afford him. It's the same people who own Absolute et al.
So are we missing Ken and Popmaster?
Can't say I am - Vernon Kay has proved much better than I expected. And I like the way he doesn't always stick to the script.
And the new pop-quiz works just fine.
I don't mind Vernon Kay, but I wish they'd kept Ken and Popmaster and put Vernon on in the afternoon slot instead of wossisface. The new quiz is ok, but not as good as popmaster
anyone watched Popmaster TV yet? We've recorded it but not seen it yet
Ken is now presenting popmaster on TV if anyone is feeling nostalgic

I watched the first episode, it was okay
So are we missing Ken and Popmaster?
Nope!
Much better lineup now - basically 'younger'.
TV is just that ok , not worthy of an hour though, being on every night doesn't help and I'm sure the cheers are recorded so no studio audience?

More like 40 minutes when you forward through the ads. And seeing as it can be recorded then it doesn't need to be watched every night.
It's an old-fashioned music quiz, reminiscent of Pop Quiz from 40+ years ago. It's not trying to be a hyperactive, modern, brinkmanship type quiz, with long tense pauses and masses of conversational filler, just a pleasant way to show off your knowledge of music trivia. Like Pop Master, in fact.
In the mornings I listen to Ken on GHR (ads are dreadful) for pop master, then in the afternoon I listen to Vernon on BBC sound podcast thingymajig. Best of both worlds.
The pop master telly quiz is very enjoyable, the music knowledge of some of the contestants is staggering, also the speed with which they answer questions.
Must admit that I quite like Vernon (much to my surprise). Not sure about the new quiz - but that may because I'm useless at it!
