I just had my watch done by a small place in Stockport called Jewel Time

I went to all the big jewellers in Stockport who told me it would have to be sent away etc, then I went in Beaverbrooks and they gave me a card for this place

Cost me £14.95 for a new battery, new seal and pressure test

Sell it and buy a watch you can afford to maintain?

I'd do a Google search for an independant but remember this Omega will guarantee any work done. Near me I had what people said was a repectable watchmaker-repair guy - been in business years and he almost ****ed one of my TAG's up so to me it was a lesson learned. Do Chealwatches only do TAG's? I use them now but can't remember if they do any other watches but for anyone who owns a TAG they are superb.

Cheers Johnners 🙄 but when someone close buys you one for your 40th tis a bit mean to say no thanks it will cost me a fortune to maintain.
Jools looks like I need a place specialising in repairs due to the damanged contact!

Chris Heal (chealwatch) does a lot of work with Omegas... he has serviced my vintage Seamaster a few times, as well as my Tag. I'd really recommend asking his view before going via Omega

Some jewelers will gaurantee the battery the battery against defects for a set period of time. The local jewlwer in Stafford used to gaurantee my TAG battery for 5 years, it cost a bit more than getting it done on a highstreet jewler (about £15) but worth it maybe in the long run. Sorry to hear your battery leaked fella

Priced a service on my Seamaster, was quoted £80 untill I mentioned it was an automatic chronograph, then it had to be sent to Omega for £200

This happened to my Seamaster years go.

I was told my watch was obsolete 🙁

Get a proper watch like a G-shock 🙂

The movement inside it is a valjoux 7750, common in many mechanical chronos, ergo it is not something that can only be serviced by omega.

Oops read it wrong. Still likely to be a modified ETA movement which can be serviced elsewhere. Not sure that's true if it's a co-axial model though.

Redthunder you can have repaired pretty much any seamaster, especially if it's just something simple like the OPs problem. G-shocks a toy in comparison.
