:Links there is you want to check. Everyone else gets the chance to play italy. I had a wee peep at his stats against wales - seemed to be the top winger on the pitch but I didn't check carefully

VDM cannot play against scotland 🙂

~He blew Watson off the pitch against England from memory I have not checked

Watson made two more tackles Both dvdm and watson missed one, going forward duhan was loads better. 5 defenders beaten against 1. More than twice the metres made

he was the best wing in the 6N.

No winger beat more players, made more yard, made more clean breaks

There are rumours that Russell is injured and Marcus Smith has been called up

not rumours its confirmed. Smith called up, just been subbed in the England game and told in the tunnel!!

Lions call up Smith as Russell cover
Sharks v Lions (17:00 BST)
As Finn Russell manages his Achilles issue and remains in South Africa, the Lions have called up England and Harlequins fly-half Marcus Smith as injury cover.

Well I don't think we really learned much from that

jamie george looks like the best of the hookers and maybe got himself the test start. Loopy made a bad start then recoverd really well

Watson first half was poor and he was responsible for a try for the sharks. much better the second

Mish looked knackered

Biggar did what he does but not his best game

Harris is not a 12 even tho the commentators were praising him

Davies was mince and Murray not much better

duhan did what he does and did it well even taking the only high ball to come his way well

Beirne looked good

daly a very mixed bag indeed

Was that before or after LRZ skinned him for his try?

He ( duhan) beat more defenders than any other Lions player (13) combining pace with power, and looked secure under the high ball as well.

It was his deft offload that also set up Chris Harris for the opening score on four minutes.

from the beeb

Yup - Duhan matches him for pace but cannot catch him not what you said at all. LRZ has a start on him. Duhans actually catching him at one point.

Open your other eye 🙂

Tj, vdm has played more games on the wing than any other player except for josh Adams, stats like that are biased to the fact hes merely turned up to play.

tj you’ll love this:

Question to Gatland: is this the most competitive squad in your Lions experiences?

"Yes, absolutely.

"I thought Duhan van der Merwe was excellent tonight. Anthony was great on attack. Couple of defensive lapses we need to sort out with him. Liam Williams was good.

"We had some strong performances in the back-row. Jack Conan was good. Hamish Watson played well. Tahdg Beirne scored a couple of tries and did well and then the guys coming off the bench as well.

Gsatland likes big strong fast wingers even if one dimensional. I think he might start him. Again none of the wingers are weak tho.

Everything in that quote is fairly obvious

Why are we getting strange folk watching their TVs? It's almost as bad as the steamers in the pub last match.

open your other eye AA.

YOu are more than welcome to think DVdM is better than LRZ, I wouldn't even bother countering, but there is no way on god's earth he is anywhere near as quick

OH I have always said that. Duhan is like a better version of Visser who can tackle a bit 🙂 He is no finn Russell or even a loopy liam but he is the most destructive winger available.

AA - look at that clip you posted again - he is catching LRZ ( although is LRZ flat out? ). Duhan has serious gas no doubt at all

I wish I could find the stats that someone mentioned of his 100 m time but I cannot.

AA – look at that clip you posted again – he is catching LRZ

He skins him on the outside, DVdM gets nowhere near till LRZ slows a bit to kick

its after the kick during the chase. LRZ makes 3 m while duhan is turning, Duhan gets 1 m of that back
Open your eyes man. LRZ ifs seriously fast but Duhan is very close indeed in pace.

At 18 seconds in the clip you posted you can see Duhan catching up with LRZ - he makes a metre on him ( having lost 3 on turning round.)

Now duhan is flat out and I am not conviced lrz is But Duhan has serious gas.

I really find that strange having watched him play. do they have a 100m time for him? I cannot find one anywhere but I am sure i did read he had run sub 11 seconds

Maybe I imagined it and I cannot find any reference to his 100m time other than he broke schoolboy records in SA but no time given
