Brazil = an average team with a few world class players.

though I do think van persie fouled casillas, he made not attempt to play the ball and just jumped into him.

My kids love having dual nationality, at least their Dutch side gives them some kind of chance of winning something in football!

So are the Dutch to be fair! Couple of journeyman Premier League pros (Vlaar and de Guzman) alongside Robben and RVP. Spain fell to pieces!

probably was a foul. But balanced out by Spain's dodgy penalty so eachy peachy!

I dunno really...felt the penalty was soft, but I'll go with the panel on them. They reckoned it was a penalty and that Casillas was fouled...

..."in today's game..."

Hmmm

Meh... Castillas was no more trying to get the ball than RVP was, he'd massively misjudged and flailed in the hope that he'd get a free kick. Usually it works too.

Brasil have a very good chance indeed as long as they can keep their star player fit - the ref.

its alright Jamie, its like that outside too
couple of women commented that the conversation in the pub kept returning to footy - had to point out that it might stay that way for a month.

of course it might go very quiet after tonight.

I'll kick off the predictions.

What would be nice - England 3-2 Italy
What will happen - England 2-3 Italy

I reckon a draw is on the cards. I don't think it'll be much fun to watch.

My prediction:

We know we'll start without our impact subs so will play for an hour lose a goal , take off lampard and Rooney, bring on Barkley and Sterling and win 2-1.

Predictions - Sterling red card for second bookable offence at 53:27. Young man slaughtered in national press along with Woy. But becomes the star in 2018. You heard it here first.

My heart says England 2 - Italy 1

My head says - England 1 - Italy 1

My pessimistic head says - England 1 - Italy 3

I'm worried that when the temperature & humidity kicks in Italy will pass us out of the game...

does this ultra strict 10 yard wall and these shaving foam lines work against the free kick taker ? In the past I'm sure the ref used to pace out 11-12 yards knowing the defenders would steal a bit back. The strict ones seam to be much closer than they ever used to be or is it just my imagination.

Just finished watching Colombia/Greece.

Greek sister-in-law is very unhappy.

Luckily, this is one situation where the crockery is safe.

Sky Sources: England team - Hart, Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines, Henderson, Gerrard, Sterling, Welbeck, Rooney, Sturridge

Looks like a decent team.

Saw a good documentary about the 78 World Cup this morning. I like 70's documentaries, good narrative and plenty of close up slow motion action.

Nothing in the first half of Uraguay v Costa Rica to frighten us.

That England line up was in the Telegraph this morning. Safe selection and keeps our impact subs on the bench for the back end of the game. Will be very hot so need to plan for tiring legs.

I think he should've started with lllllannnna, as he keeps the ball better then bought on sterling later when the heat has sapped the energy from the players to score a giggsesque goal against them...

But I know nothing...
