Inspired by accidentally blinded chickens, which don't mind overcrowding as much, the next step is apparently "brainless" chickens, all stacked up like in the matrix being fed through tubes with electric shocks to stimulate the muscles....

But wouldn't that convert former vegetarians to eat them? I mean - as long as it tasted like good chicken meat and had all the same nutrients and so forth - there'd be no brain activity to worry about. It'd be the same as eating a vegetable (which chickens are already, nearly)...
I doubt this is viable. A plant may kill 100,000+ birds a week, that means you would have to connect and disconnect that many a week!
I did a holiday job in a chicken factory once...that'll put you off, brainless chicken or not!
Not to say we didn't have fun getting tiny little chickens and injecting them with so much water (with added vitamins of course) that they got to football size, and watching while the full timers chucked them through the bandsaw and got soaked.
No wonder we were called "****ing students" and despised by all!
They did get their own backs though, by making sure we got most of the really horrible jobs every day.
