I'll put it like this, and then leave because it's not something I feel that passionately about (and I'm terrible at arguing).
I'm happy with myself, who I am, how I look and what people think of me. I also LOVE nice Omegas. Stupid, over-engineered things to measure something that humans invented.
If I was not happy with myself, I'd spend every penny on Omegas and max finance on a car. Blokes would chat to me about my watch and give nods as to my nice car; my confidence issues, no matter what the cause, would be appeased.
Women don't [i]really [/i]work like that. Hell, who knows how they work. However, physical appearance is more important, that a Cartier Tank. Boobs may give them that confidence, and let's face it, your body, which is a big part of who you are, is more important than a bit of tin to transport you about.
You talk about overweight people...what's more interesting, a fat person climbing out of a Merc convertible, or an attractive woman just walking past you in the supermarket pushing a buggy?
It's worms, in a massive can - tackle the causes by all means, no matter what small attempt it is, but of you are a decent person like I'm sure you are, then you will be doing this through your every day actions, however, like I say before, at the same time let peope do what gives them confidence, in this crazy world 🙂

Two of my exs had surgery. The first was a reduction. We'd been out many tears before when she was early 20s and they were fab. 15 years later, I met her again and she'd had a reduction. They were actually too big and she could have gone down another size or two.
The other ex had them and they looked great in a dress, a bit too perky out of a dress. No complaints from either of us. The weirdest thing was hugging her in the depth of winter. Her boobs took longer to warm up than the rest of her. Like hugging somebody with two bags of frozen peas under her jumper. Bit odd.
Both had some small scars. Both seemed pretty happy. I was. They both believed the right thing was to enhance them. Don't go up or down too many sizes. Otherwise it all gets out of proportion. I'd agree.

Perhaps we should all go naked for a couple of months - then the whole body issue would be put into perspective after day or two of embarrassment. as rocketdog pointed out at the bottom of page one, thats how it feels before its used, it wont stay that way.
i believe its quite common for them to need replacing as the body effectively cases the implant in calcium.

Actually on reflection I dunno if I do. What people choose to participate in is their business, allowing yourself to be intimidated by others appearance is actually choosing to participate in the whole thing. As cougar said, if you don't play, you can't lose.

hmm. a lot of 'what about the menz' in here. to say that men experience even a fraction of the social pressure that women do, about their appearance, is to display wilful ignorance.
yes men do experience some pressure - and it's increasing, sadly - but it's not built in from birth. you don't see someone complimenting infant boys by saying "ooh, don't you look pretty!". There's no male equivalent to the 'bratz' toys. You don't see people tweeting shit to older male TV ppl like David Dimbleby for being too ugly. You don't see male rape victims getting told that they wore shorts so they basically brought it on themselves. And don't let's get started on the racks of magazines like Heat which basically scrutinise women's bodies for every little fault they can possibly find, and point and laugh like playground bullies (and yes, i know that these magazines are only successful because of the women that buy them, but that's another argument)
point is that women are constantly told, from age 2 upwards, that their appearance is REALLY IMPORTANT and it takes a very strong woman to be able to shrug it all off and ignore it.
Men are judged very differently, on a load of different stuff - wealth, career, skills, looks, intelligence all form a part of it - but it's just not weighted towards that one single attribute in anything like the same way.
Which, being a bloke, is quite a relief, but the least we can do is try to understand and be sympathetic.

If you feel pressured by society to have a boob job, dress sparingly and get raped, then you are victim, a victim of rapists. Having a boob job is a choice, how you choose to dress or have your boobs enhanced is a choice, being raped is not a choice, don't demean a real campaign with your own need to score cheap points.
I agree that having low self esteem might not be a choice, but how you fix it is.

CG men do feel challenges of the same sort, granted no where near as strong but it is increasing. Obviously real men don't care how they look or how muscular/fat they are, but an increasing proportion of us do. Just look at how the male grooming market has grown/been pushed recently, I for one don't care for that but have fallen fowl of how chaps such as Brad Pitt look and how the average bloke just doesn't.
Anyway back to the op. My Mrs wants hers done but I don't think she needs them doing. I am perfectly happy with how they are. This doesn't matter to her because she isn't happy with them. As for whether she wants them done to impress other women or to make herself feel better is a question only she can answer. She certainly doesn't need to do them to make me happy, hopefully she doesn't want to impress other men.

My point stands though, yes the boob job is a choice but the (potential) underlying reason isn't.
I find it quite disturbing though that you automatically equate boob jobs and how a woman dresses with her likelihood of being raped. A whole other issue to that being discussed but that sort of crap needs to be knocked on the head.
Doris - you also don't see male rape victims being taken half as seriously as their female counterparts. Actually, for every one of your points there is an equal (and often opposite) counterpoint. For example, for every Bratz or Barbie you have an Action Man or GI Joe. I'm not making this into a male rights thing, I'm just saying that it's all a part of the same problem, that men are supposed to be this and women are supposed to be that and it should ALL be dealt with.
