So starting to plan our summer holiday and we will be camping when the Tour De France in on. Whats the best way to watch the ITV4 coverage when in France and probably with patchy wifi.

Watch the local coverage? The ITV stuff will probably be geo blocked.

Most cheap sites we go to have a TV in a room somewhere.

Find a local motorhomer on the same site, lots have satellite hooked up. Some campsites have a club room with Tc or as before, most bars will have it on.

If you are still at the planning stage camp near the race and go and watch a bit of it live and the rest in the fan park

Yeah, head to the TV room or the local bar, it's always worked for me.

And "Allez Allez Allez!!" is the same in French! 😀

Practically any cafe for locals will have a couple of old dudes sat under the TV drinking tiny cups of coffee watching the race. Usually reminiscing about the day the race went through town, when they won the local amateur race and deriding Peter Sagan's riding ability.

Or head to the local betting (PMU) shop which will double as a bar. They might also have a foam hand to give away as they're one of the main sponsors. This place will also contain the same old blokes as above.

Last year I got a USB TV receiver from Maplin for about £30. That way if the WiFi's good enough (it won't be) you can watch english language links on steephill.tv. If it's not you can watch French TV on the laptop with ticker updates from Cycling News.

Suitable bar is better but I needed the laptop backup on a few occasions.

The problem with the local TV is that it is on all day and in French!!. they don't seem to have wrap up programme and to be honest half the pleasure of watching TDF is the ITV presenters and the magazine type programme.

ITV4 will work in France - I used it last year with no problems.
