Stick to the same drink, a good session bitter is good, but you'll struggle to actually get drunk!

no spirits.

no cheap wine.

no Stella.

Drink good bitter or wine and drink a pint of water before going to bed.

Avoid red wine, white wine, ales, the black stuff and stick to white rums and vodka. Or at least that works for me. A few months back I sank about 3/4 of a bottle of rum in an evening (by accident) and was extremely drunk. Was up first thing for my fastest ever trip round Mabie.

When you get in grab a straw and turn the tap on. Proceed to drink the water from the tap through the straw. Continue doing this until you feel like you're going to be sick. Go to bed.

Avoid cheap spirits, cheap lager, cheap anything really - cheap vodka is usually the one that gets me.

Drink only 'white' drinks like vodka and white rum and have a pint of water before bed a pint of Nuun in the morning is a good pick-me-up.

In spite of that advice, I've given up the booze as I have a tendency to binge drinking and I had too many wasted days that I could have been out on my bike.

Have a training night before your planned big night, i.e, get pissed the night before! It pretty much makes you invincible on the 2nd night!
Avoid beer, lager, red wine and any dark drinks. Just drink clear spirits such as vodka or gin, job done.

avoid neurophen and paracetamol

Neurophen reduces swelling, as your brain shrinks when your hungover its not realy helping

Paracetamol is process in the liver by a similar reaction to alcohol, so isn't a good idea.

The only way to avoid hangover is to avoid getting drunk, so the usual things like eat before you drink (slows down your drinking due to the full feeling more than anything else).

Avoid cheep anything, it has a higher methanol and propanol (an other long chained alcohols) content, none of which are easily metabolised, and procuce nasty chemicals when they are, this is why a hangover hurts.

Stop drinking at midnight, and have a pint of water with your last drink. By this point any alcohol you consume will be just getting your drunk in your sleep, so whats the point?

Don't get a takeaway, anything that soaks up the alcohol in your stomach is just delaying your body from processing it. Vitamin pill, pint of orange juice (citric acid helps cope with the alcohol) and a genarous pinch of salt (not all together!).

He said a shed load of drink.

That was a repeat prescription, not a on-off treatment.

Delaying your body from processing it allows the body to even out the distribution and removal of toxins, which does help, massively.

Rarely drink these days, but 2 nurofens and a can of coke was the best cure/relief I found for a hangover.

Pint of orange juice if i'm properly wrecked and/or hungover and it comes right back out again! Is that the idea? Tactical vomiting is a good option.

I would just plough through the chair into a heap. Actually missed the bed completely in the hotel room on Monday night.. glad the Marriot has a plush comfy carpet.

I can confirm drinking beer , loads of red wine and sambooka and then finishing it with a sleep face down on the hotel room floor is not the best plan to feel great the next day!

It was funny at the time though 😀

Don't drink water when you get in from a night out - make up some rehydration solution and drink that instead - you'll feel far better in the morning than you should.

A few glasses of water during the evening, food and at least a pint of water before you go to bed. Blue powerade, orange juice and greasy food in the morning.

Nurofen does help. Alcohol doesn't cause your brain to shrink it causes the lining around your brain to swell, thus an anti-inflammatory will deal with the head pain. And thus long term alcohol abuse causes brain damage.

Has nobody mentioned sleep ? All of the above, plus an extra hour of sleep for each hour spent drinking. Lots of water when you get home.

Some people swear by Berrocca, taken before drinking and in the morning.

The chair:

If we're talking about a hotel here - before [strike]collapsing[/strike] retiring, place the chair in front of the door

Having to walk down to reception - bollock naked - to ask them to let you back into your room can cause embarrassment [apparently] 😉
The fact that you accidentally left your room whilst in pursuit of the toilet doesn't mean you are so desperate that you use an ice bucket that's been left outside someone else's door either 😀

I've also heard Milk Thistle is supposed to be good. It's some herbal remedy that you take before you go out, popular with nurses apparently...

I did that in a large hotel in Denver once, although I was wearing a pair of boxers and was blind as a bat as I'd left my specs in the room. I'd woken up pissing into a bin at the end of the hallway on my floor.

Bestway (you did say bestway) to avoid a hangover is one night stand sex. Sweats/gets it out of you and you have a good healthy workout at the sametime. Sorted.

Hora's reply would probably work well for the girl too, who is presumably unconcious thus getting plenty of sleep and has taken her painkillers....

A full meal of pasta an hour or two before drinking. Lots of toast after. And a spoonful of Marmite before bed!

When you get up at 6 in the morning with your bladder bursting - empty it, and refill with water.

DO NOT take the water at bed time, you'll overload and this could lead to Rock Star Death syndrome...... There are not many things worse than waking up in the night with Marmite flavoured vomit up your nose - sobers you up though!

The problem is of course remembering to do all this

I always thought it was the dehydration resulting not enough blood to fill the brain, therefore brain shrinkage? Either way neurophen + alcohol = higher chance of stomach ulcers

LOL isn't that just sleeping through it, not preventing it? I mean in my younger days I'd have loved to add a further 8 hours sleep to my day, but I just don't have that much free time these days.

I don't sleep that well when I'm razzled
I go off almost instantly but then usually wake at something like 5 or 6 & struggle to get back off again

Dont mix the grape with the grain and avoid lager..all those chemicals give you a headache. Drink real ale with loads of pork scratchings with a good pie and chips to soak it all up with. Eeebygum you cant go wrong lad.

Everyones hangovers are different though, some people just feel sick, others get headache. I get massive neck and shoulder aches and dizziness. Mine's mostly cured with sugary drinks like orange lucazade but if the dizziness is present only sleep can help.

my god i cant belive more people dont recommend food. if i dont eat a burger etc before going home, im just destroyed the next day, makes a huge difference.

dont drink stella in large ammounts-golden rule, also helps you avoid police stations,so im told

painkillers before bed help.

bad food in the morning and water.i crave fry ups and choclate biccies etc,oh and coke as well

vomiting may make you feel better in the evening but youre worst next day, best avoided at all costs.

have a break if poss between last drink and going to bed, ie walk home,if you can walk!

i used to drink industrial quantaties of red bull and vodka.i always felt good the next day, prob due to caffiene but poss cos i was still drunk at 9am.

also find having a huge pooh can up improve how you feel no end the next
day. i guess as it gets shot of lots of nasty chemicals etc- this goes hand in hand with the late night burger run 😉

final rule-practice make perfect!

I was once informed that a major part of the effects was thought to come from a serious depletion of blood sugar levels. There's evidence to say this may be untrue, but food and particularly sugar, picks me up rather rapidly (i.e. I can go from a completely mashed waste of space to walking around talking in 15 mins) with sugary food, this then allows me to get more long-burn food in me. Without them I'm a cripple.
