Best supermarket curry?

Waitrose and M&S are good.

Others (Tesco & Sainsbury) are a bit of miss and hit but I eat them anyway because I am lazy to cook sometimes.

Deliveroo? If you must go supermarket I quite liked the M&S Hot Chicken Tikka Masala but not sure if they do it anymore now that they launched the Fiery Hot version (which was too hot for me)

I just want mega-simplicity – grab a packet that I can bung in the oven for not much money (I already have rice, I just need the main), and I need to nip into a supermarket for some other bits anyway.

M&S Butter Chicken is nice and they also make decent Indian side dishes - samosa and bhaji pack

Is there anything more simple than sitting on the sofa while some-one else makes your diner and another persons brings it to you? Admittedly you have to answer the door, but y'know you could get up off your arse for another beer at the same time - efficiency an all that.

My mega guilty pleasure is Tesco Veggie curry in a tin, It's not the best by any stretch but it's cheap, its not so bad that you stop eating it and you can add a naan and rice for special.

But I am going to the supermarket anyway so it's relatively simple and I don't want to spend silly money on delivery charges etc as I only need a single main meal. A quick look on Deliveroo and a single main including service fee and delivery is £15.64 from our preferred place.

Yeah I guess delivery charges are a PITA when you don't live in a city. But I reckon I'd still choose the Deliveroo option, just on premise that money's going to local folks (restaurant and delivery rider) rather than a multi-conglomerate, and the curry would be nicer.

Mr TW likes the Aldi specially selected range.  Always seems to be a decent amount of meat/veg for the price.

ASDA used to be about the best. Waitrose about the worst for taste and value. I generally like M&S and COOP food, but I've not had their curry. Tesco/Sainsbury just has a designed down to a price point vibe.

Spice Tailor mix of choice and a bag of king prawns. All of them have been excellent, especially the daal. Takes as long as sticking a ready meal in the microwave.

Really enjoyed the very hot M&S chicken tikka masala, just not the following morning.

The Aldi Specially Selected Chicken Jalfrezi is excellent.

Booths, from the fresh food counter. Yum, but not widely available so may not help the OP.

Came here to say Booths, saw several had beaten me to it, but I'll add another dose of smugness to the thread.

Though our takeaway is closer and I tend to go there when I don't have something suitable in my freezer.

Bombay bad boy pot noodle with two fresh chillies and 1 tablespoon of curry powder mixed in, otherwise the only supermarket curry I’ve tried is m&s veggie one, which is like a warm gravy unless you fry up onions, tomatoes,curry/cumin etc and mix it in

We have recently discovered the "Cook" range of curries at our local Co-op. (Midlands, I don't know if they're available all over).
They don't try to mimic the standard high street Bangladeshi flavours (nothing against them, I like one from time to time) they're much more like the authentic ****stani style you get from places like The Karachi in Bradford and Sheereen Kadah in Balsall Heath, Brum.
Really, really good. I always add in one of the Saag Paneers too.

Lloyd grossman Tikka's probably my favourite, toss a little extra corriander and paprika in.

Spice Tailor Tikka is good too, whichever of these two is on offer I usually go for.

Also Aldi's Thai Red is great.

Usually have one of the above in the cupboard for days I come back from a ride and cba to cook but need mahoosive calories.

Available from a few shops nearby, not sure how far afield they've got but they also do delivery, albeit pricey unless you buy a load.

A little cafe / restaurant place at the foot of the North Downs near Shere; if you're local you'll know Silent Pool (same place as the gin distillery)

Heron Foods, if you have a branch near to you (B+M Local is the same) do a great selection of frozen curry at less than £2. Dont confuse it with the ready meal unfrozen one, which is nowhere near as good, but perfectly eatable for its price.
Iceland at £2.99 (£2.49?) are very good too.
Home Bargains do a few curries and rice for £2.50, the chicken madras is nice, if a little peppery. The Co-op range of Curry and rice are good, Jalfrezi are my favourite.

Authentic Curries & World Foods do 3 which are all better than any of the own brand ones I've tried.

Not sure if they are only available in Wales though based on the branding...

We tend to keep a supply from Akhtar at home in the freezer (obviously won't help you for tonight). For 2 of us it's cheaper than getting a supermarket option as a single portion is enough for 2.

It's too good though so tends to spoil going out for a curry as it rarely compares.

I ended up getting one from a local shop (Curry Counter in Harrogate) that I’d completely forgotten about - restaurant quality food served from a chilled counter rather than the supermarket norm. It wasn’t the best curry ever, but certainly better than any supermarket one I’ve had.
