I know their star faded quickly, but I heard this on the radio the other day, and though it's by no means one of my favourite songs, the intro is great...

t's the story...

So, what are the intros that nail it for you?

Andy Gill's intros still sound brilliant.

Good Vibrations-Beach Boys. I don't really like the rest of the song but the sounds created for the intro were the high watermark in 20th C musical production, IMHO of course.

Achilles Last Stand - Led Zeppelin. Also used as the outro:

Actually, alot of Hendrix choons start well ...Voodoo Chile (slight return), Crosstown Traffic - short I know but I grin involuntarily when I hear it, Purple Haze etc.

Glitter Gary +1.

Presence is a much overlooked album.

Incidentally both highlights of bands that rapidly faded in to shitness (after that one track in FF's case)

Naranjada - Agree with that, it's my favourite Led Zep Album, along with Physical Graffiti of course.

I just love the intensity of last stand over 10 minutes or so, it's amazing.

Ho, Lets Go.

Good Vibrations is a good call, must be one of the most recognisable intros ever.

I like the single chord at the start of Hard Days Night as well.

Not the obvious Deep purple one, but I prefer Lazy or Rainbow's Stargazer, there again good old Sweet Child O Mine is very catchy too

The Cult - She sells sanctuary ๐Ÿ˜€

or for a guilty please, The Look by Roxette (runs and hides)

or for the more mature reader, Livin' on a prayer by Bon Jovi

Cheers

great choices on the dead kennedies and at-the-drive-in fronts,
the gang of four one took me associatively through the Au Pairs to the Bravery (remember them? declared to be the next biggest, bestest thing in the world, ever by music journo types everywhere (6 music's tip for album of the year before they'd even recorded it if i remember right) after this single - then went on to do nothing)

or maybe Typical Girls in an Ari Up tribute?

Not a song but the intro to a whole album and for me a whole new world of music (when I were a young 'un that is).

Yeah, they weren't bad live. Changed their image and disappeared!

not before they had a rather limp blur/oasis type feud with (i think) the killers over who were a "real" synth band iirc.
neither, it would seem
