Dull, I know, but £150 for AA seems steep. Any less obvious alternatives?
VW van with occasional trips to France/Alps.

Autonational for me, £69 per year for the full monty.
New customers get 15 months.

AutoAid, their partner, do it for £thirty-ish per year but you pay for recovery on your credit card then they reimburse you. Trusted.

Co-Op Privilege Premier bank account comes with the bells and whistles RAC cover including European and car if yours is off the road due to a break down.

I'm just about to renew my van insurance and many of the companies offer rescue for about £40-60 extra. Not sure I'll bother, but it seems cheaper than a separate policy.

Had really good experience with Axa Assistance when we broke down in Europe. Well priced too (thing £70 for the year).

Can you get it through your bank? Reward account etc.
