My old man's a coeliac
He lives in France
He has yet to find a beer he likes
Base line is the Spanish Daura damn. He took an IBC full of bottles home with him last year's
But try as we might I cannot find that in France and neither can he -hes tried for 3 years even to the point of asking his local off licenses if they can source it and he would even buy by the crate...... something about it not being imported but the explaining was beyond his french
So i'm looking for tips on gluten free beers/lager that are availible in France
Or
French beer suppliers that are not saveaur-biere.com as Belgian blondes(beers) are not his thing. And annoying many of the other options appear to be Quebec based.
Or....Spanish suppliers that will ship to France direct? Brexit makes me shipping daura damn direct a bit of an unknown :/
Any ideas from the hive.
Estrélla Damn is one of my favourite beers, it's a classic Euro lager. I've never tired the Daura version though. No trouble finding places that deliver to France:
https://www.bodecall.com/fr/biere/daura-detail
They deliver by GLS who are good IME.
Has he tried the supermarket brands? Both Leclerc and Auchan (edit and lidl) do gluten free:

Cider?
Or when in, er France, do as the French and sit outside your house on the roadside drinking Ricard!!
Ciders what he's been drinking since he got there mostly
Tried that site edukator
Every 24 bottles incurs 30 quid delivery to my folks.
See if his local Carrefour has it:

Link from 2013 but you never know.
There Estrella Galicia gluten free?

Also, top tip - almost all large scale production lagers are gluten free. It's a by-product of the intense filtration/clarification they go through to make them very clear/see-through. However gluten free certification is quite onerous so they don't bother getting it. It also puts customers off as they think gluten free = lower quality?
I know that Peroni and Tennents are gluten free even if it doesn't say it on the bottle. The gluten free versions are the exact same beer, just in a different bottle and priced higher. Though it is submitted for gluten free testing/certification.
So, he might get away with trying non-gluten free lagers til he finds one that agrees with him.
Try the Beer4Coeliacs group on Facebook. I just did a quick search and there a few hits on France for Lidl and Intermarche. As far as imports are concerned if he can get his hands on some Czech Bernard GF Pilsner that is well worth it.

Do you realise what that means to a genuine coeliac .
He would gladly pay the extra for the testing sticker
Will try that group cheers
Yeah, he might mean genuine celiac but gluten free beer isnt gluten free.
Crazy right, but true.
Its just less gluteny than regular beer, brewed with a percentage of Spelt in the grist to drop the gluten down
Indeed
But it has to have less than 20 parts per million by law to carry the label.
The outcome is hours on a toilet and serious stomach pain so as I said taking chances isn't something you do
I've definitely bought Daura Damn in Carrefour before moving house a few years back. Jade sans gluten is nearly always available in my local Super U.
Surprising number of ‘ordinary’ beers with less than 20ppm gluten in them looking at the real world tests this guy has done.
Brewers Clarex which is an enzyme used to stop chill haze also removes gluten. I often wonder with the 20 parts per million how many pints I would need for me to have a reaction.
