Is it worth the upgrade?

depends on whether you want a touch of luxury (as in relaxed and roomy) and have the money to spend or you want to rub thighs with your neighbour.

I'm fortunate enough to have flown both Upper and Premium with Virgin, I'd say that any upgrade to get you out of cattle is def worth it for flights of 5hrs plus

Cheers. Im seriously considering it for a trip to the US. I can't usually sleep on planes and at 6'1 getting comfortable can be tricky so the extra room would be nice.

If you can get the upgrade without parting with a major organ I would say do it.

I upgraded to World Traveller Plus for a trip to China and managed to sleep, for the first time on a plane, and arrive in a fit enough state to present at a conference the day I landed.

Its definately the upgrade - if you aren't paying 😆

I'd booked business class on Singapore Airlines:
London - Singapore - Kuala Lumper - Sydney - Singapore (only stop-over) - London
They came back with a problem on one of the legs and said I'd be economy for that leg. No I won't says I, I'll fly with BA instead. Got a call a couple of hours later, "not a problem sir - you'll be at least business class on all legs".

Cool thought I, maybe an upgrade on one of the legs.

Arrived in Heathrow to be told I'm in the wrong queue, and I've been upgraded to first class for the entire trip!

Loads of room, pyjamas, quilts, mattresses, and a stewardess each!

World Traveller Plus isn't that much more expensive than economy. Bear in mind that it is still economy service just with slightly bigger seats and more legroom. To be honest I wouldn't normally upgrade but then I'm 5'7" so BA economy isn't that bad for me but at 6'1" it may well be worth extra.

I think BA economy is better than Virgin Economy
Virgin Premium Economy is better than BA WT Plus
Upper Class is better than Club
First is better than Upper Class...

I fly BA to Nigeria quite a bit. WT+ def worth it. It's possible to get some sleep on the night flight out, and there's power in the seats, so it's poss to plug the laptop in and work on the day flight way back. It's not luxury and the food is normal econ food, but for a few £'00s extra, the little bit of additional space and the laptop power, is worth it.
