I thought the Weezer track was/is Teenage Dirtbag?
Wheatus surely?
Whigfield. Always ‘Saturday Night’.
First artist to go straight into the charts at number one with their debut single, fact fans.
I thought Buddy Holly was Weezer's only song. Or is it the other way around?
Always griped me that Underworld were only known to the general public for Born Slippy.
But it's nice that it probably made them a mint.
meatloaf like a bat out of hell
Nah, he was equally known for that one about not doing something for love.

Wheatus surely?
Even more cruel when an artist only has one song, and it's someone else's.
Paranoid - black Sabbath
I wanna be your dog - stooges
She sells sanctuary - the cult
Gravel pit - Wu tang clan
First two bands have got so many superior songs and with the cult just play 'rain' or 'wildflower' instead which are both miles better songs
Gravel pit is awful. Just play some deep cuts off any of the solo albums
I like Radio X, especially Johnny Vaughan, but as great as he is at the chatting bit, he clearly has no interest in music.
Dunno about his actual interest in music, but he's clearly using a very commercial playlist he's not allowed to deviate from much.
She sells sanctuary – the cult
Good shout, and it made me think of this one (because they used to play them both at my local indie disco)...
Even more cruel when an artist only has one song, and it’s someone else’s.
You say Wheatus I say Weezer, let's call the whole thing off.
Bon Jovi gets one - Livin on a prayer
Lenny kravitz has two - go my way and fly away
Aerosmith get three - sex in a lift, creepy about his daughter, walk this way
Queen get quite a few - don't stop me, kinda magic, Bo rap, radio Gaga etc - whilst all arguably great songs, I could quite happily never hear them ever again after being subjected to commercial radio most of my working life.

Queen are a bit like U2 for me.
A lot of their songs would be really good if they'd been by another band.
Telling that by far their best song was composed with Bowie.
Another great example just come on
Joy Division - love will tear us apart
Even more cruel when an artist only has one song, and it’s someone else’s.
Could be worse, could have turned out they didn't even sing on their own songs and ended up returning their Grammy Award for Best New Artist......
Aerosmith get three – sex in a lift, creepy about his daughter, walk this way
Just listen to the medley 'creepy sex with his daughter in a walking crane'
Durrrh duh dh derrr duh der duhduh dae dae deae duh derrr duh duh dah duh
Whiskey in the Jar isn't a Thin Lizzy song. Can't let that one slip!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of The XX
They haven’t released anything for over 5 years now. They were big in 2009
Romy has her own solo stuff going on, and Jamie XX has as well, but considering they play and sing on each other’s recordings, they’re virtually indistinguishable from any XX recording.
Not that I pay that much attention, I find them bland and uninteresting; if anything by either of them gets played I just tune it out, they only seem to have one song, and 6Music does play it/them a lot.
Whenever they comes on the radio I have to quickly change channel, or I fear I’ll drive into the nearest bridge support to be away from it. It’s ghastly sugary sweet lovely nonsense, and I hate it on a molecular level.
But, you know, each to their own, your opinion is a good as mine etc
😂
Opinions like this are what happens when one artist’s back catalogue is reduced to one song, and the chorus is all people listen to. 😢
First two bands have got so many superior songs and with the cult just play ‘rain’ or ‘wildflower’ instead which are both miles better songs
Funnily enough She Sells Sanctuary, Rain and Wildflower are essentially the same song.
Guns and Roses, Sweet child'O mine. Would it kill them to play Welcome to the jungle now and then?
Werewolves of London is a cracking song though.
Also.. EMF.... Unbelievable.
They've done so much more that no one has ever heard before.
Someone's beaten new to the obvious with Faith No More and Soundgarden: so many bona fide hits yet Epic and Black Hole Sun are the only ones heard. Could be worse, for a while new listeners would get totally the wrong impression of FNM when Easy was the big hit.
Which gets me to my absolute favourites of this genre, bands who are not only remembered by radio programmers principally for just one song, but one that is atypical of their output. Extreme and More Than Words is the obvious one. My nomination is Jane's Addiction. Incredible Alt Rock act who didn't set the UK charts alight back in their original run, but did score their biggest UK hit during a brief run at being a big mainstream rock act ten years later, so if your classic rock / hits station tells you not to go away because after the break we've got Jane's Addiction lined up for you, you can bet your bottom dollar you're going to hear Just Because.
Queen are a bit like U2 for me.

Those two statements seem to contradict one another. If they songs would be batter by another band then they wrote really good songs that held up even though they're not great performers (which is the mark of a good song - its good whoever plays it) So illustrating that by saying their best song was written by someone else suggest they weren't good songwriters
The opposite would be someone like Led Zeppelin - they were great performers but their songs only really sound good when they play them (or if covered you have to do so an impression of their performance). For anyone else theres not really a lot of song to play.
e.g. Ed Sheeran
Thats really not fair, you may not like his music but he is quite a shapeshifter when it comes to his sound. He's pretty talented.
Will Smith - Men In Black
The Mos Eisely Cantina band.
Not quite ubiquity, but I reckon if any classic station tells you they're going to play a U2 record, there's a much better than evens chance it'll be Pride (In The Name of Love).
Damn it I'm now listening to U2 boy for the first time in maybe 30years.

What, like at the Kennedy Centre Honours where a totally different version of Stairway was played. Or this recent version of Levee Breaks?
Should I Stay or Should I go- The Clash
500 miles- The Proclaimers
after the break we’ve got Jane’s Addiction lined up for you, you can bet your bottom dollar you’re going to hear Just Because.
What? Surely this one...

You are logically correct, but my severe (and right-thinking) aversion to Queen and U2 means I sometimes hear their songs and think "oh, that's not bad actually, shame it's by those tossers".
Whereas Under Pressure is amazing, despite involving Queen.
The Stranglers - Golden Brown
The Animals - House of the rising sun
The Doors - Light my fire
The Smashing Pumpkins - Today
The Stone Roses - Fools Gold
A lot of these songs still being well know after a good 30 years or more is quite something. Better than being forgotten!

Disappointed nobody agrees with me on this one. You get what it is right?
Imperial March? or Indy Jones theme
Sometimes we all have to listen to Steve Wright! 🙂
That's what the off switch is for!
Judi Tzuke - Known for her 1979 hit 'Stay with me 'til dawn.
She had a few more singles, however many albums containing so main great songs.
Radio stations steadfastly refuse to play anything other than the lamest song in the entire Pixies catalogue: ‘monkey gone to heaven’.
Imperial March? or Indy Jones theme
Oh. Aren't you feelling well? What would help?
Damn...beaten to it with Jane's Addiction ...my vote was been caught stealing but to be fair they do also hammer just because.
Anyway I now go for "corner shop" brim full of ASHA...and not even their version...no, it will be the Norman cook remix which pisses me of because it ruins it for me.
Should I Stay or Should I go- The Clash
Certain radio stations are also aware that they recorded London Calling of course. Or if you're lucky, Rock the Casbar.
The Eagles, Hotel California. Or if you're lucky, Desperado might get played.
Led Zeppelin, Stairway to Heaven.
Human league. One hit wonder obviously.

Funny that, I heard one single song on 6 music today and it was "Here Comes Your Man". Actually, far crapper than Monkey Gone To Heaven.
