how do i play my music on my tv that isnt purchased from itunes?
Where is the music you want to play? You are probably going to have to airplay to the apple TV from another device.
on my laptop. its on my itunes but i havent purchsed it from them. it dont show on tv screen only the ones i paid for
As RB says - best thing to do is use, say, Spotify on your iPhone and then airplay to the ApplyTV. Works well.

I think I managed to add music from other sources into an Itunes library for my parents, it showed up after that.
i hve no idea what that means 🙂
But if you have it in iTunes but not purchased from them, you can either leave your laptop on and play from the AppleTV by choosing the laptop in the menus OR pay for iCloud which will then upload your tracks into your iCloud area and then they will be available all the time as part of your AppleTV
