You see in the pic below the application photo booth with some backgrounds, how do I get those particular ones to work as they are semi live feed. do i need a plain background?

Sorry - don't quite understand what you're trying to do. Are you just trying to use the fancy 'movie' background in the photo rather than your curtain?
If so, that's simple - you just select the effect you want and it'll ask you to step out of the picture for a moment and tell you when it's ok to step back in. It'll work on any non-moving background, but will work best on ones that aren't the same colour/tone as your skin and clothing.
cheers matt, what i was doing wrong was moving the laptop yo need to keep it still. Can you download other backgrounds?
Ah! That'll be it.
You can put your own effect backgrounds in - simply go to the fourth (and last) page of effects and you should see a load of blank spaces (with "User Effect N" in them). Simply drag-and-drop pictures or movies from Finder, iPhoto or whatever, into the boxes. 🙂
