Not an apartment, but enjoyed staying at the [url= http://www.hotel-aiguilledumidi.com/index.php?id=24&L=2 ]Aiguilles Hotel [/url]in Les Bossons.
Have you contacted Phil at MBMB ? He may have ideas. He found us an apartment a few years ago owned by a guy called 'Edskitherapy'.

I stayed in Chamonix Sud with France Location for a week over the summer - just above the Monkey Bar. The accommodation was very basic but met our needs as we were either out biking or at a bar.
It was very cheep but had great view of Mont Blanc from the balcony
Took about 2 minutes to walk from the accommodation to the centre of Chamonix.
