As anyone walked up/down Mt Teide? Iv researched that I need to apply for a permit and that there is cable car transport , However I fancied walking it , but can't find any sites that come up with information.
Any info , advise please .

I did it when I was 12. Was quite straight forward if I remember correctly.

Nice views, looked like a foreign planet 🙂

Yup, started off with 36 degrees leaving the hotel by the sea, under 5 degrees at the top, lots of snow. Air is noticeably thinner at the summit too

I think I went most of the way in the cable car.

Apparently Neil Armstrong said that the view from Mt Teide resembled the moon. Well, so the tour guide told us anyway 🙂 I didn't realise that Mr Armstrong took his vacations in Tenerife.

When I went on a coach trip to mt teide as a child , the tour guide told us that star wars had been filmed round there

We took the cable car and then a permit to walk to the summit. Really enjoyable although my wife suffered due to the altitude. To be honest I'd rather cycle then cable car then walk

If the weather's bad they won't give you a permit.

Cable car goes to within 500m of the top, you can walk from there (weather permitting)!
