Hi.
I’m considering replacing my worn out LX shifters.
My bike has 2004 Shimano 3x9 mechs - LX front and XT rear.
Can anyone recommend a SRAM Attack trigger shifter that actually works well with this mech combination?
Thanks in advance.
Given the age of the kit, the pivots and spring in the rear mech won't be tight, so replacing the shifter may not get the crisp,.sharp shifts you once had.
Back in those days, I think SRAM and Shimano had different cable throw per shift (I think SRAM was 1:1 and Shimano was something like 1:1.6), so it might be a better shift with a Shimano shifter of that period (assuming you can find anything). I vaguely recall SRAM did shifters that had a similar cable pull to Shimano - can't remember the name of the range - might have been Attack as you've mentioned - if so, this paragraph isn't really needed!
I'm all for running what you have until it can't be used again so hopefully you will find a suitable shifter to get it working better again.
Attack were the Shimano compatible ones. Think I still have a set attached to a bike in the garage. They worked really well, at the time at least
BITD I ran SRAM Attack shifters. They worked perfectly with Shimano stuff.
Thanks all
