As is often quoted, does the NI Protocol actually require 700 pages of form filling (some in Latin according to a Tory MP today)? Or is this Daily Mail type exaggeration?

I suspect the latter.

It depends on what you're importing.

I suspect that 700 pages were for a mixed container covering agri, manufacturing, pharma and some re-export - from a variety of sources (suppliers) to a variety of customers both in NI and Ireland.

So could be as simple as 1 page per item.

No it doesn't.

The rules haven't been changed by the EU either as they're trying to claim. The rules have been introduced in stages as per the terms of the 'oven ready 'deal.

Absolutely shameless behaviour by the British.

**I work in imports/exports.**

Yep, it was a huge success we should all be proud of only a couple of years ago! The clever Tories got one over on the EU and negotiated a blinder of an agreement.

For some reason now the exact same treaty is a terrible thing unilaterally imposed on us by the EU.....

The Irish protocol isn't the 'problem' its a bodged solution that was bad, but not as bad as any of the other solutions suggested.

The problem is Brexit

The 'get it over the line and worry about the mess later' attitude of those who sold it to us will haunt this country for a generation.

Is that a political generation (7 years), an actual generation (15-20 years) or the generation referred to by Scottish Unionists when talking about another referendum - i.e. never?

There were better solutions, the DUP didn't like those either... why not..? Because they want to use Brexit to politically and economically divide off Northern Ireland from the rest of the island. As was warned about 6 years ago.
