Should anyone care, a friend of mine has run a voting script since back when the Internet was in black and white.

Imagine getting the contract for the set design

’So you need a set designing. What’s your budget?’

’everything!’

’everything?’

’Yes. All the money in the world. Go mental!’

Portugal were good.  Thankfully the public vote is a bit more evenly balanced

Or random

Currently debating the scoring with a friend. The differences could be anything from just different tastes in music to potentially repaying political debts (in a small way).

Eurovision has seen a lot of block voting in the past, but it's difficult to see what could be the cause of some voting.

With that said, i have no idea what the music was actually like, I have early 90's rave music on as I work. Oceanic FTW

We don't have such a large diaspora and gvmnt campaign. Would be surprised if morocanoil are headline sponsors next year

The country that voted for Brexit and the Tory scum also loves Israel - who’d have thunk it.

They live amongst us.

I missed this last night, but it's almost as good to read through the comments with iPlayer open. You read something, think 'WTF are they on about?', wind through to the performance and then 'Bam! Now I understand!'

Finland clear performance of the night obvs. Won't spoil it but when the hotpants appeared I couldn't work out the physics, no way were they going to lift him like that, he'd spin round, slide out and Finland would end up in a crumpled mass of hair and immodesty. So when THAT happened - magnificent!

This sounds like a Wigan nightclub in 1990

Could be worse, could be Preston circa 2014.

I have no idea why the BBC persists with a corporately selected song.   If we are going to come last let's at least be collectively responsible !

Not sure a "referendum" to pick our song would be a good idea, how well does that work in this country 😂. Enjoyed the show this year lots of fun and some good songs and performances.
Don't really see the the public support for the Israeli entry as a right wing/tory scum thing, perhaps just sympathy for a pretty 20yr old girl getting boo's whilst singing her heart out representing her country 🤷‍♂️

I don't think anyone should be thinking the Israel result is very authentic.

I think they're terrified of our entrant being the equivalent of Boaty McBoatface. I'm not sure that's entirely a bad thing.

Once again, from what I could hear, the singing from our entrant was not up to snuff. And for all the raving about the staging, I wasn't convinced that staying inside a box for 90% of the song is what a live performance at Eurovision is all about.

If your link has got .jpg at the end, you can paste it straight into the reply box. If it doesn't, well, you have do lots of other things to make it work. Or try to upload a saved image (which will be deemed too large, despite not being too large).

I've been thinking that there has been some way found to rig the system. It was one of the weaker songs in the competition IMHO.

Auto dialers?

Not that I am suggesting it has been, but I imagine its very easy to rig any of these public votes where thousands ring in. Its taken on faith that it is an accurate reflection of the actual calls.

Im actually surprised the UK scored any points. I was expecting the big null points but clearly some of the industry types gave it a few

As far as I know it was actual real calls, they just spent a lot of money on marketing to mobilise their diaspora.  Nowadays some acts will even do tours of radio/TV stations in other countries in advance to get their songs better known.

E.g. pick your language...

That's what we thought too. Song wasn't anything special and they had that fantastic floor and video wall at their disposal yet chose to sing most of it inside what looked like a bus station loo.

Winner was OK. I preferred the Irish witch and Disney Ramstein though myself.

Israel was utterly forgettable too.
