Cool, dry and dark for your root veg. Dry your chillies
When I grow spuds, they get put in a hessian (or you could try large paper bag) type sack, which is left in our cool garage.
I freeze chillis in plastic takeaway containers.
I came across something called a vegetable cushion the other day which made promises of keeping your veg fresh longer.
Don't store onions in the dark, they'll sprout.

I keep my spuds in a sack too. Fortunately no-one makes me leave them in the garage.
At this time of year, all my winter veg, like tatties, carrots, turnip etc live in a big plastic box outside. Saves loads of space in the fridge.
Store them underground. You get more.
at the farm opposite they used to push carrots into barrels of sand to keep them.
I store all my veg as soup!
