Very happy with my recent purchase thanks to a fellow forum user !

I have a quick question

Auto box

On locking the doors the little light/led next to the P sign on gear selector stays illuminated for 10 mins or so or sometimes goes out straight away on locking.

Whats this little function for ?

From reading its some sort of sleep thing but why sometimes does it stay illuminated for 10 mins or go out straight away ?

Thanks

Not sure but check the indicator bulbs, they often don't work on bmws

go faster pedal

Clearly you have the lower spec for non-drivers. Real BMWs have a 'making progress' pedal ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've never noticed it on mine, but I'll have a look, but if it's not a light on the dash, I'd not worry.
I've got the Bentley manual for the e46 as a pdf if your interested. Ping me an email and I'll send you a copy.

Are you using different keys when it does something different. I have 2 sets keys and radio and settings like light staying on are dependent on the key used?

The norm is for it to stay illuminated for approx 16 minutes I believe & then go out. its something to do with the cars electronics / sensors etc still be active before a shutdown. nothing to worry about.

no idea why it goes out straight away sometimes, maybe after short trips?

I swapped brake lights in my fabia for led bulbs. It made the glow plug light flash continuously until I removed them.
Took ages to find out why, I though the plugs had failed!
