But that’s a bit obsequious.
How so? If Bunnyhop says something makes her happy why would you doubt her?
Ah well went to the beach and had a nice long walk, yep need to jog but easing myself in.
Came back and it was at the coronating bit.
Mrs DoD had said they’d been at it for quite a while with the singing,it’s definitely a bit of a weird thing to watch in this day and age and tbh I liked having this bonkers thing played out to show how mad it all is.
I’d have gone if invited, just to see the mad spectacle.
Isn’t the real travesty the sycophantic reporting on it.
The arresting of protesters prior was very naughty but tbh what do you think all the new laws are for, this showed exactly where the power is and just how it’s going to be used.
One of our young Scout leaders was part of the crowd control on the Mall - 16 hour day but has some great photos and met some terrific people. All while being a republican.
Had a meal last night with friends who'd watched it on TV together and come up with some sort of Coronation Buzzword Bingo drinking game. The hangovers were kicking in about 9pm, despite a bit of hair of the dog 🤣
I hope the Coronation buzzword bingo bods had ‘beseech’. Definitely a costly one courtesy of the men with big hats.
Well it was nice to see the lovely Penny dishing out the swords. She should’ve got the top job. Lovely hair.
The fly past was a bit disappointing. If you’re going to do it at all, do it properly.

It's ok, I'm sure the Police will only ever arrest people who really deserve it.
I think it's piss funny that 2 women were arrested for carrying rape alarms.
She should’ve got the top job. Lovely hair.
You have obviously forgotten what happened the last time someone with lovely blonde hair was given the top job.
I prefer Mick Lynch's minimalist coiffure.
Well, I hope all the monarchists had a nice day.

They obviously didn't want Randy Andy to be inconvenienced if he decided he fancied a bit.

You know a thread is past it’s best when even the usual trolls stop making an effort .
There was a strong plan to frighten horses with rape alarms, so without that undertone it would be fine.
The "Down with this sort of King" protesters have 363 other days to make their point. Clearly, this weekend, Plod are going to be hyper sensitive and may overreact.
Mokeyboi has had a great day and good on him for diving in. I thought the pageantry was great. My mate the Marine was as pleased as anything to be marching up and down in his shiny buttons; why not?
The ritual stuff in the Abbey was utterly weird and needs throwing in the bin of history along with ducking witches in the village pond
And when I saw Nick Cave in the crowd I so hoped Chaz was walking out to "Red Right Hand"

I love people who just assume it will always be someone else who the police choose to 'overreact' to and therefore it's all fine.

All the way through the weird stuff all i could think was that South Park episode!
The fly past was a bit disappointing. If you’re going to do it at all, do it properly.
Apparently is was to do with the low cloud and poor visibility.

I think the point might have been to do it while someone was watching.
You'll be telling me next that workers should only go on strike on their days off so it doesn't inconvenience their employers.
Apparently is was to do with the low cloud and poor visibility.
Ahh, thanks for that. I imagine it was probably explained in the commentary only I was watching it on mute with music on.
Planes were all getting ready over Anglia but then they got sent home (these are all military)

Shame. Bloody love a good airshow. Was taken to some belters as a kid at various bases around Cambridgeshire, Alconbury etc. Have they been banned now?
Was this yesterday? Damn missed it.
Less airshows these days but they still exist. Southport, Cosford, Fairford, Torbay all decent but not Cold War decent if that’s your expectation / experience.
I think the point might have been to do it while someone was watching.

If you can't get an audience except for one weekend in 70 years, maybe your point isn't as important as you might think. Despite you really, really caring. A lot.
What have these people been doing every Saturday since 1953?
As for your weird false equivalence about strikes, that's what our American cousins would call "a swing and a miss"
Arresting people for having rape alarms is somewhat dystopian. But arresting them for handing them out en masse at an event such as the coronation, it really doesn't take a great deal of mental gymnastics to see why.
Anyway. New monarch, same shitty people. RustyNissanPrarie is gonna be busy.

Does handing them out at 2:00 AM count as 'at the event'?

Protesting at other events.

Why are people so credulous? Why would Westminster Council be handing out rape alarms at 2am in Soho so that ten hours later they could be used to "scare horses"?
Why are Met Police horses so remarkably timid? Apparently their safety also required the seizure of a dangerous...megaphone.
This all belongs in the big book of Met Off-The-Record Bullshit for the Press, along with "Jean Charles Menezes jumped the barrier", "we didn't seize any items", "the man in police uniform that battered Ian Tomlinson and caused his death might not be a police officer", "Harry Stanley pointed a table leg at us as if it were a gun so that we would shoot him", and all the rest.

I used to live with one of these professional protester types. My god he was insufferable. Not knocking anyone’s reasons or rights to protest, I’ve been to a few myself. But he would literally protest about anything. It was kind of a scene. Always hectoring you about the environment and ****ty little bits of recycling etc whilst flying off to more foreign festivals and holidays per year than I’ve had in my life.
I think the problem they have is that people have grown wise to it. They know it’s just attention seeking for social media. Look at the stop oil types for example. It doesn’t even work effectively, just gets people’s backs up and damages their cause.

This is a perfect demonstration of why the Met does what it does. It injects bullshit unattributable statements into the initial press reports, lets them circulate and become part of the bullshit online narrative spouted by people too lazy to check the story themselves, and then neither corrects nor owns those statements subsequently.
Anyway. New monarch, same shitty people. RustyNissanPrarie is gonna be busy.
That and all the tat and bunting being binned today. 🙁

I agree with some of what you said but that's what was said about the Suffragettes back in the day.
It's also very JRM and GB News speak.
The Liz Truss stuff was particularly funny yesterday 😂

I managed to go out on the bike all day and it was great. We rode loads of cheeky stuff , on a Saturday daytime, that’s normally the preserve of night rides only as there was nobody around. The presumption that all red socks are also flag-shaggers was most definitely correct 😃

To be fair, there's a big difference between most peaceful protests and Just Stop Oil, i've no clue who are behind JSO, but i was always under the belief that you protest to try and get public opinion on your side, i don't think i've ever seen JSO do anything that's not caused the public to despise them and their protests, honestly, throwing stuff on a snooker table, or smearing works of art, handcuffing yourself to football goals, it's not exactly made to influence opinion!
Down here around Bristol, there's a lot of protests, i've been stuck in some of them like the Extinction Rebellion ones, but they almost have a feel of a carnival float about them a few years back, i think yesterday's Rebellion folk weren't being anything other than civil from what i've seen, i think the hierarchy took the option of just arresting them all before, not having any dissenters on TV for the BBC and then in the next few days maybe an apology about being 'heavy handed' or whatever.

The objective is to get the issue in the news. You may not like their methods but they work, and when the media ignore massive peaceful protests there seems to be no other way to get publicity.
But arresting them for handing them out en masse at an event such as the coronation, it really doesn’t take a great deal of mental gymnastics to see why.
Except, of course, that didn’t happen. Otherwise, good point, well made.
Whatever your views on the monarchy, some valuable lessons have been learnt this weekend about the right and wrong ways to protest. The most fundamental rule is obviously, don't cause a nuisance.
But as these attention-seeking hotheads seem incapable of following such a simple request, we will inevitably have to explore alternatives.
The most sensible solution is the creation of a state-sanction protest zone. A heavily fortified and remote location in which cameras/phones will not be permitted.
Organisers will simply have to obtain a permit and provide a full list of participants prior to the event. This would allow for basic pre-checks, home visits searches etc. Once green-lit, the state will provide full support.
This would uphold Britain's proud role as a champion of democracy and free speech while gaining an effective new way to gather the biometric data of risk elements.

I think Wes Streeting said more or less the same thing this morning.
Did Penny Mourdant just make a pitch to be the next leader of the Conservative Party (albeit probably in opposition) or did I miss something?
Somehow managing to channel Boudica, Helen of Troy, Lady of the Lake and the lass from Game of thrones who uses dragons for taxis into one outfit.
Puts Liz Trust's pathetic Instagram efforts at self promotion to the sword.

What, Norfolk?
What, Norfolk?
Seems like an overly cruel punishment.
The most fundamental rule is obviously, don’t cause a nuisance.
The most fundamental rule is don’t obey the law by informing the police of your plans to peaceful protest. They will lie and agree to your plans, then at the last minute hide you away, remove your placards, and arrest key people involved.
I agree with some of what you said but that’s what was said about the Suffragettes back in the day.
A bunch of middle class posh types protesting to further their own interests?
Bit harsh, even if true. But luxury beliefs are timeless.
