What sort of cost would it be to do it in UK? Crewe, Manchester, this sort of a general area.

if you are fully comp it should be covered on your insurance
However, if its not and the windscreen id not heated i would guess around £400ish

Should be nothing like 400, call some of the smaller windscreen companies around you (not autoglass/windscreens etc) and it'll be less than 200. The last one I had done on my fiat ducato camper was 130.
