I don't think I've seen Flint, Michigan mentioned yet. Americas gateway to hunting and crystal meth combined with a ticket problem causing the flight to be held and then the gate agent walking me on personally made for interesting inflight conversation with the locals. Sitting next to a Denny's area manager made me feel like I was in the real life Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Another is El Paso, Texas where this happened while I was there.

Hmm - not sure Ive got the time or memory to complete my list!!

Most obscure probably:

Baghdad
Basra
Al Amarah
Bagram
Herat
Masar e Sharif
Pasni
Diego Garcia
Andros Island
Cape Canaveral skid strip

Probably over 300 destinations, and I actually landed the aeroplane 😛

Is anybody actually reading other people's lists (sorry, somebody's probably already written that, but I'm not reading the whole thread)

Anyway:

Luton
Heathrow
Gatwick
Bristol
Birmingham
East Midlands
Stansted
Liverpool
Brize Norton
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Belfast
Paris CDG
Marrakesh
Perpignan
Rodez
Marseille
La Rochelle
Nimes
Lourdes
Geneva
Lyon
Oslo
Innsbruck
Zurich
Dubrovnik
Zadar
Split
Belgrade
Ljubljana
Ibiza
Fuerteventura
Paphos
Izmir
Antalya
Singapore
Bangkok
Brisbane
Melbourne
Auckland
Los Angeles
Denver
Salt Lake City
Philadelphia
Chicago
Jackson Hole
St Johns
Deer Lake

I'm sure I've missed a few there - but reckon I have one or two nobody else here has been to - my top bet for that would be Deer Lake.

Ooh, just remembered my obscure one in the UK

Cranfield

that was a take off and land at the same place flight (the one and only time I've had the controls of a 'plane in flight).

I'd have a much shorter list than many above, but a couple of obscurities which I don't think have been mentioned.
Aruba
Leh - would have expected to see that on someone's list
Campbell River, Vancouver Island - ok, airport is pushing it a bit perhaps

I've done Leh as well.
Best was the original Hong Kong.
Worst was a shit hole in the Middle East I don't want to mention.

Though it is interesting to see that you can tell people's professions by some of the more exotic airports they've visited.

@Daffy not really, I've travelled a lot for work, lived abriad so explored a bit "locally" plus at 54 I've had the years to rack up destinations. All this plus small airports and airlines costs less to get to an inusual destination than the train in the UK or driving to the Lakes !

Dash 7 from Orly 1993,

I've flown to some remote places for work on some basic airstrips and none of them had the Picolax properties of Courchevel

Does riding my bike along the bridleway that crosses the runway at Elstree Aerodrome count?

Yeah - not much leisure travel to Aktau or Port Harcourt 🙂
