Airport security with a torque wrench?

I would strongly presume that would be taken off you due to the small pointy bits.

No chance. This is why hold luggage is still a useful but expensive option

If you were travelling through Sumburgh Airport I'd say definitely not. Most stringent checks ever!

I suppose you could unbolt something from a seat to use as a weapon.

And then you find out it's all held together with T25 bolts....

I’m back out to Spain tomorrow and I’d like to take my small torque wrench with me in hand luggage. What are the chances of it being taken off me?

If you're flying on a Boeing I imagine you'll be welcomed with a sigh of relief

Years ago I took a wedge eye socket for a 20mm wire in my hand luggage . I chatted with the security guy who asked if it was a tool as tools are prohibited. I said no, the 8kg lump of steel is not a tool and too heavy and cumbersome to wield as a weapon and I got on.

Id stick a torque wrench in the hold.

The wings are held on by M10 bolts - you could be up to no good.

M10 bolts would require a 17mm spanner …but having been in the belly tank of a 737, the wings are held on with something like 3” bolts, lots of them…

I don’t think there’s any airlines in the U.K. still flying DC3’s any more, and I know there’s no more Vickers Vanguards or VC10’s in service, so probably not a problem.*

*I have no idea what sort of bolts any of those aircraft actually used.

Well I left the wrench at home and they didn’t have an issue with the 1.5mm Allen key.
They did try and take my 4 tins of dog food but I pointed out they aren’t liquid.

I remember going on a climbing trip and accidentally leaving a tube of liquid chalk in my hand luggage.  I was mildly annoyed that I was going to lose it but then the chap said, 'Ah, it's chalk.  It looked like a liquid on the X-ray' and handed it back to me.

Like I said, the logic of airport security sometimes escapes me.
