What's this? It was in our garden this morning. Escaped canary?

Its got a beak similar to a finch. It could be a young greenfinch at a guess.
What sort of noise was it making?

I believe it was heard to remark, "I tawt I taw a puddy tat!" or some such.

Even if I had paid attention I'm not sure how to spell bird noises. Probably lots of tch brr chp chp or something like that ๐Ÿ™‚
