Banter today at work
6months on submarine would be on a covert operation and wouldn't be surfacing.
Or
6 months on space station
What you would you choose and why ?
I'm still undecided
Space station, you have a window to look out of and floating about, Floating about would be so cool
space station, it's, you know, IN SPACE!!!
submarine
Worst question ever ๐
Space station, you have a window to look out of
^ This!
And this submarine has 6 months worth of food?
I'm pretty sure the UK Navy subs can only carry 10-12 weeks worth at a push?
Peasy. Space.
Better view and you have no gravity; which I bet never gets boring.
Space station.
Submarine death means you drown or starve off oxygen ... I think the latter is better death.
Space station death probably means your body may explode? Yes? (do they explode due to expanding pressure?)
I prefer space station death if that means my body would explode suddenly rather than drowning ...
space station - you can look out the window for starters - plus if you get a leak, then its trying to get out at 14psi, rather than trying to get in at 700psi - so with the space station you have a realistic chance of escape, rather than the whole thing collapsing around you like a tin can.
Space station, that would be special, a submarine could be just like being locked in a basement.
space station .. You can always jump in the sea and feel wet but not fly around and look at the world from space.
Space Station, with barely a second thought.
- If you make it onto the space station you are likely to be contributing to some degree to the future of mankind.
- You get to experience weightlessness (positives and negatives in this, but six months should be ok)
- You get to see the earth from a privileged perspective, most that have experienced it say that it changes their outlook on our world.
- If you never did another thing for the rest of your life you'll have been to low earth orbit, which is pretty good going for our generation.
Why would anyone pick submarine?
Space station. Much better view.

To be honest I don't even understand why that's a question. Why would anyone prefer a submarine??
chewkw - MemberSubmarine death means you drown or starve off oxygen
or get crushed in a heartbeat.
Anyway, space coz windows and floating and eating weird ice-cream
Can I sit on the toilet to have a morning poo on the space station?
Space station death probably means your body may explode? Yes?
Nope. Your body isn't that highly pressurised.
If it was then people would go pop at the top of Everest or when skydiving.
Can I sit on the toilet to have a morning poo on the space station?
You can but it's right next to that window (Cupola) so you may have company.
If you haven't seen it before, watch this fascinating tour of the (mock up) of the ISS. Very cool.
Space station, without a second thought.

No, you don't explode: Our skin is actually very stretchy so you may swell up a lot, but you won't explode (which may actually be worse).
Neither
I suffer quite badly from cabin fever
yeah, but if it's going to be coming out at any great rate, either hold tight or buckle up !Can I sit on the toilet to have a morning poo on the space station?
How they poo is apparently one of the questions most frequently asked questions of the ISS astronauts.
They answered it many times, the answer is not glamorous:
Space Station because I used to work with a fella off the subs , he was mental and had a smiley face tattooed on his old chap!
Do you reckon you could get the internet in the space station?
It's pretty close to lots of satellites after all.
Do you reckon you could get the internet in the space station
Yup, they have net access.
Oh, and ISS of course. Who wants to go on a sub?!?
Mind, a lot easier to get on a sub.
Do you reckon you could get the internet in the space station?
They do, yes.
Space station obviously , its far more niche .
Like, yah, Space Man.
I want to see all the Aliens "n" stuff that never gets broadcast or shared..
Like, yah, Y'know all the Satelites that are crasing into each other, and the beams of light eminating from the Laylines, Man.
You'd be able to plot all the like "dead weird" places on Earth that only Governments know about, Man.
n
Stuff
n
Get to eat like freeze dried Chicken Curry, Man.
If I could get to space in a submarine and have proper toilets then I would say space.
There again if the submarine had a window and cruised the Red Sea...oh I don't know.
How they poo is apparently one of the questions most frequently asked questions of the ISS astronauts.
Flipping that one round, how do you flush a submarine bog with 700psi of water trying to get in?
how do you flush a submarine bog with 700psi of water trying to get in?
I would imagine in a very similar way to launching a torpedo. ๐
Not keen on that space station toilet.
Do you think the male space station people **** into that yellow hose in the video?

I've always thought it's more like a depth charge
I would have thought the chances of getting to space have a higher risk of death compared with going to the bottom of the sea?
Do you reckon you'd make the news for spending 6 months on a sub?
No brainer here, space station.
Submarines smell and there's no view, unless you're allowed near a periscope. There's no capacity to talk to your family on land, either.
A space station on the other hand has a peerless view, you get to float around a lot and you can talk to your mates on Earth.
Plus, only around 600 people have been in space compared to many thousands in subs.
Submarine,
Its nearer to Lidl and Aldi for those bargain bike offers.
I don't think spacemen do poos, because there is no gravity so the turds never get to the rectum so you would just sit there and fart a bit.
Space - not even close to a dilemma that one
Will Jane Fonda be in the space station too?
Probably NSFW
