Second-hand Galaxy S9 from CEX, in true recommend what you got style.

Replying on a Poco F3 5g that cost me £180 including a mini rucksack last month, directly from Xiaomi... Blows my old Mi A2 that cost the same three years ago, out of the water!

I'll say the same thing I say on all these threads.
Whatever you go for get the most recent model you can (even if less powerful on paper). Later chips are better on battery and the newer the model the longer you'll have software support (for security not just features).

I'd agree with above, I tend to go with the most recent version of Android I can get

I just got a Motorola E20 for £80. We has wanted the E30 for £100, but I am impressed with the E20.

For security and updates a newly released cheap phone will be better than a premium older model.

I got a Poco X3 NFC last year. Still going strong. Looks to be in your price range. Although Poco do seem to have regular flash sales.

Having had 3 reconditioned Samsungs I won't be going down that route again. The last one packed up after 9 months and the warranty was very vague, it wasn't an EU model and it was a pain to get money back. I have an oppo a9 and it's been alright. Camera could be a bit better but it does everything else fine and battery life has been good. We also have 2 Samsung A32 4gs and you can still get them from Amazon for £212 and they're a bit better than mine.

Another one with the Poco F3. Camera is not brilliant, but otherwise no real issues

I bought Mrs D a Samsung galaxy A22 and I've been really impressed with it. They are about £150 if you shop around.

I've just bought a Samsung a53 to replace my Samsung a50 as the battery isn't what it used to be but still works fine 4 years later.

I like motorola phones as they have very little bloatware and the gestures for camera and torch are very handy.

I got a reconditioned Samsung S10e for about £170 in February. Couldn't tell it had been used at all, and going great so far. Bought it from eBay when there was a discount promotion on - looks like there's another this weekend with 15% off selected sellers.

Last two phones have been Nokia, currently a G50 (released Oct 21). Definitely buy recent to ensure both OS and security updates. Nokia G21 was released in Feb 22
Oh, and take reviews about screen resolution, speed, etc with a pinch of context. At that price point they're not going to be the best, but newer, cheaper phones seem pretty reasonable to me

I've just got the Moto G50. I went with that primarily for it's battery life. So far I think it was a good choice for the money

Watching this thread with interest on my Motorola Power with very cracked screen.

I like Motorola phones for the same reasons as above.
- Battery life
- Gestures
- Lack of bloatware (paired down Android)

I recently bought a Poco M4 as a spare when my s21 started playing up. It's a big phone, more phablet than phone but the battery lasts a age and the phone is A1 for £180. I've just bought an S22 and it's not that much betterer than the Poco - certainly not 4 x better which is how much more £'s it is.

I am just trying to work out what I'm going to do about this - choices appear to be a new phone or no phone.

@boblo - how are you finding the s22 battery? I'm tempted by the phones size but am hearing fairly hopeless battery life.

@cp I've not completed the transfer yet so can't tell. The Poco is tremendous and my s21 had about half the life so I'm expecting similar things from the s22.

Agree, lucky if I get to 9pm with mine now - shockingly bad.

Agree. But going into Spotify and stopping it from running in the background did wonders for mine.
My 4a also has a cracked screen and £120 to replace is bonkers.
Would replace with a new phone but don't want something as large as a tablet.

Another Poco F3 here. Couldn't resist for £180 with the rucksack (needed to hit a threshold to stack discount codes) - 8GB/256GB 5G and fast processor. Amazing value. The only extra thing I'd like is wireless charging, but the battery lasts ages anyway. Keep an eye on HUKD deals website and go for whatever Xiaomi is on offer. The prices are up and down all the time so don't be surprised if you order something and it's £10-20 cheaper the following week (though I can't see the recent F3 flash sale price being beaten)

Must admit bit gutted I missed out on that F3. My X3 is fine but that was a great price
