Day 70. Happy birthday to meee, happy birthday to meee.... etc etc etc

Big plans for a ride out exploring some new gravel tracks came to an abrupt halt when I found that the central heating boiler had gone kaput.

Consolation came later with another dip in Loch Vaa. Water temp down to 5.6C (eek!) but we warmed up a bit with a drink and some banana muffins I'd baked since I was stuck at home.

Very overcast and foreboding on arrival

Last out of the water again!

We're not in Kansas now!

Topped that up with an hour on Zwift this evening.

I'm not suffering any aches, pains or injuries. Sometimes feel my legs a bit tired but I've not been putting in so much distance this week. I've lost about a kilo in weight. One difference I have noticed is that I seem to have developed a bit more "zip" for getting chores and stuff done. Just like I've had a wee injection of energy. Might be the more regular swimming??

Had an absolutely crap week this week. Only managed one Zwift session as I've been finishing too late at work to do anything, plus the traffic going home has been horrific meaning the usual 75 minute commute has been around 2 hours every day. Hopefully I'll get something in tomorrow and Saturday, Sunday is biking anyway though so that's good. Will have to try and get back in the swing of things next week if I can.

^Ah well,at least your sound of mind and body!
Sea temps are still 11C round here, perhaps I should risk a short swim.Colins 6C sounds a touch grim though.
PS happy birthday @scotroutes.

Expected busy week has been, busy!
Day 68 - needed a rest, work out and fed up. Did a few little house jobs.

Day 69 - little walking to and from footy training, parents evening, bit of food shopping and a late tea.

Day 70 - finally made the time to do some much needed exercise this evening, and feeling better for it immediately.

Happy birthday Mr Routes, raise a glass to you later, two runs 1*weights, and two lunch walks book ended by mini bike commutes this week, might do some extra weights later. Tomorrow will be radiator desludging at the father in laws (might get a walk in) so looking at Sunday for some outdoor action. Dunno what yet.

Happy Birthday @scotroutes

Condolences on DIY @thestabiliser I have pretty much finished months of faffing with bedrooms, wallpaper and woodwork / coving stripping, fireplace fitting, skirting board replacement, floor sanding and painting.

HAve been out on the bike this morning and we seem to have the sun with us .

a lovely tree

Burbage one way

Burbage the other way

Loop out to Blacka Moor, Houndkirk, Burbage then back down Blacka Moor and through the woods to home.
MAde it to the climbing works this evening.

Perhaps makes up for yesterday - a lot of walking (11 miles) but I am not sure if it counts as it was between various Manchester pubs......

Good to see and hear what everyone else is up to

Nice to see the good weather putting in a bit of a showing elsewhere. I don't feel so guilty.

I'd planned a walk with the drone today but it was very wet and windy - until early afternoon. To taka advantage of the narrowing weather/daylight window I just headed up a wee local hill (Craigellachie).

The thriving metropolis that is Aviemore

Current snow levels

Summit shots were severely restricted due to the windspeed. The wee drone just couldn't fly against the wind and, at one point, I though it was going to end up in Aviemore as I could barely get it back!

Still going, no real aches or pains. Mix of yoga, rowing machine, turbo and windsurfing (twice) this week...crazily windy yesterday....gusting to 70mph! I could barely walk up the beach with my gear as I was being blown sideways so hard!

Well, my 100 days has fallen apart completely mainly due to Dr Anxious-Depression, work, and general knackeredness (mainly due to work). However, rather than beating myself up over it like usual, I've managed to use it to keep me doing more than I would have done otherwise. Thanks to @nobbingsford of this shire, had a very marvellous trip out to deepest, darkest Northumberlandshire (AKA Rothbury 😂) for a rather splendid pedal today. Even managed every climb without walking up any. 😱 Knackered now mind.

Just done the Island Hopper course on Makuri Island on Zwift as part of the Makuri Tour, felt really good and got a boost to my FTP to 220W. That puts me back to where I was after the first summer lockdown where I had a lot of free time and rode loads, very pleased with that. Plan now is to build that up to 230+ by Christmas. Off to Windhill tomorrow for a few hours, will be a chilled workout with friends that works off the calories I'm about to consume at my sister's 40th birthday party 🎂

Day 72 was going to involve an afternoon/evening out in Inverness with a crowd of mates so I snuck in an hour on Zwift in the morning.

Day 73 started, err, a bit slowly...  Anyway, I got my act together for a visit to a local hill I hadn't been up for a while.

It wasn't a huge ride but it was nice to get out into that refreshing wind.

Putting my hand up to admit absolute failure in November, COVID vaccine, cold, holiday and another cold are poor excuses but have beaten me at the moment.

Did a few hours at Windhill today, chilled fun but did ride up the push-up track a few times to up the calorie burn count! 1000 calories in just over 3 hours is good going for me when there, especially as I avoided scoffing any trail snacks.

Day 71 - very active morning doing house stuff and a little walk around a small reservoir in the afternoon, visit to parents respective homes in the evening involved walking not driving (also takeaway and drinking).

Day 72 - one of those days that involved Jo specific exercise again but did walk to town and shuffled around a bit.

Day 73 - actual bicycle ride with Mrs Fezza and young boy Fezza. Went to gisburn, half loop plus a load of sessioning on the hope line.

Dont give @Dickyboy I think most have had a few wobbles, i know i have! Sat was a washout due to DIY commitments and almost too. Was going to slump to claiming an hours walk with the family but gave myself a kick un the pants and did 40 mins on the turbo.

Well I ran today...3rd run of the year 😂. Me and the dog did 6k with a bit of walking (only a few minutes) and several stops to throw his ball. Loved it..I miss running, I used to do so much but niggling calf injuries always stop me. The plan is just to keep doing run/walk stuff with Randal with no expectations....he loves it, and his cruising trot is about my long run pace

Day 74. Had my double vaccination this morning and a few minor after effects so wasn't sure what I'd be able to get up to today. However, one of the guys from the running club suggested an early evening run so ended up with a fast (for me) 10km through the forest and past Loch an Eilean in time to catch the moon-set.

Day 75 - an indication of the change this challenge is having on me. Despite a decent weather window I decided that some weights and yoga would benefit me more than another ride, so it was 30 minutes of each.

Day 76 - as a rainy weather front is coming in I thought I'd best head outdoors for a ride. 45 km Ryvoan loop with lunch at Nethy Bridge.

It must be Winter. The pogies are on. (It was minus 3c when I left home)

The weather front approaches.

Nice. Particularly liking that 2nd photo.

Yesterday I'd borrowed some Garmin Rally power meter pedals to "calibrate" my wee turbo trainer so I spent some time on Zwift playing around with those. Looks like the turbo is pretty accurate at lower inputs but struggles with higher, sprint levels of power. I'm not sure that I'm bothered enough to do something about it.

Today was a visit to Loch Garten for a quick dip. Nice turnout. Air temp 7c, water 4.8c. I was in the water for about 6 minutes.

When we got home I headed out for a relaxed 5km run. No photos as it was dark 🙂

Hope Stanley is ok. It's been difficult with the damp grey days. I don't think anyone has let the side down. Just getting out and getting some fresh air when we get the chance, or a bit of a workout inside is all good.

I'm not managing any kind of hypothermic antics like scotroutes, I am impressed by your cold tolerance!

Still going ok here. Overall I’ve missed 3 days since the start. Just squeezed a Zwift in before heading to Dundee for our works Xmas do. Have a fairly clear day tomorrow so will get outside at some point on the bike.

Sort of missed one day so far, I was in Amsterdam and doing touristy stuff but it was raining and TBH we didn't do enough walking for it to really count. But apart from that, still going with lots of running and a bit less cycling.

Well I've missed several days so far, but I've decided I'm just going to keep going after the 100 days is up! Made it out on the bike just locally the last 2 mornings and even managed to miss the rain on both days. Amazing sky this morning 😁

Hi @monkeycmonkeydo @AndrewL and everyone,

Still here... just!
I'm about halfway through my 4th chemo cycle. Finding it pretty tough tbh. Very tired all the time, back pain, sore fingertips, bla, bla, etc.
I seem to have only about 4 hours of energy on most days but I am still trying to get out as often as possible (probably 4 out of 5 days on average). I've done a few short walks, used the ebike loads and even managed a few rides on a proper bike.

I'm going to arrive at Christmas in a worse physical state than 100 days beforehand, but I'll certainly be in much better shape than if I'd stayed on the sofa! I've got lots of nice new kit too... and some plans for next year 🙂

My mini-goal for this coming week is to get my old Solaris back together and then join the ride out from Cotic Cycles HQ this Friday.. easy group of course!

@stanley - great to hear you're working through it!

Day 79 - a couple of hours on Strava doing the short Fondo route. Just like IRL it was great having a few "hares" to push me a bit harder.

Day 80 - Global Fatbike Day!!!

Frosty start near Alness but I managed to catch some hair frost, which I've only seen once previously.

Glad you are getting out @stanley - that's definitely a good effort.

I like the bike helmet Christmas tree @scotroutes and the leaf @fazzini

I got out after work yesterday for a ride near tideswell, but it was cold and grey so didn't get any photos.

Slow trot around in the dark today.

Fingers crossed for some frosty blue sky days later on this week.

Day 81 - feels like the end is fast approaching now.

9:30 swim in Loch Vaa. Just caught the first rays of sun of a frosty morning. Air temp -1C, water temp +3.9C.

With a lot of low-level mist hanging around I thought I'd take the drone up the Ord Ban for some aerial photography.

30 seconds after I arrived at the summit, the mist/cloud rolled in and I saw nothing, so I walked back down to Loch An Eilean for a couple of fly-bys of the castle.

Day 82. Tomorrows forecast is either for some lovely snow - in which case I hope to be out with the fatbike or (more likely) cold, wet and windy - in which case I'll probably stay at home and use the gym. That being the case I thought I'd better get a run in today so did 11km down from Badaguish to home. I managed to set another season PB for the 10km but it's a bit of a cheat as the route is predominantly downhill.

No scenery shots today so have one of my grizzly fizzog instead.

Updates are getting a bit scarce now. I hope there's a few more lurking and just not posting 🙂

Hoping for frozen ground and blue skies here over the next few days. A dusting of light snow for aesthetic purposes would be acceptable too.

Got out this afternoon, probably should have put more layers on as it was pretty chilly

I'm struggling to keep the momentum going purely due to work and family taking up most of my time. Only managed 3 days last week and have yet to do anything this week so far too.

Enjoying the updates from everyone else though especially @stanley, makes me feel very inadequate though!
