I'm dying to know what the rest of it is...
I've taken my kids to pubs to have something to eat, it's fun to go for a meal out - especially if as I've done a few times the pub has a campsite and we're camping at the pub (usually can't be bothered doing cooking when I take kids camping).
I'm dying to know what the rest of it is...
I’m keeping you waiting!
I meant to say, why do people take their children to pubs and then fail to supervise or ensure they can be kept entertained by the parents themselves. Like you and many others we’ve used them for a refreshment stop or for a meal on many occasions and it’s enjoyable.
We only take our kids to pubs that look, or are overtly, child friendly. If I'm not with them I avoid those kind of pubs. No one likes other people's noisy kids. Except landlords who make a packet out of families.

If it's a sunny day the beer gardens fine, pub/ restaurant for food fine, charly chalk type thing fine. In the bar of a drinking pub absolutely not fine. Thats a place for adults to get away from kids and enjoy the company of adults. As the Daily mash once said " A pub with kids in it isn't a pub its a hell hole "
Another Mash article that nails it.

For the love of god
If I ever catch myself saying stuff like this I’ll order the bloody coffin myself
I don't understand why you don't understand that I don't like going to pubs with kids in.
Don't get upset petal, if your'e in 'the pub' with your kids then I won't be.
(unless theyr'e really good & stay under the table or lay by the fire like our dogs did)

In which case that's because they're inconsiderate idiots.
I don’t really care that you don’t like pubs with kids in
I just hope I don’t end up with the same mindset
Fair enough I would have thought
Flora and Fauna, Harry and George round here in term time, nearly as bad as Southwold, they read the Times and Telegraph and BOOM at each other (and everyone else) about trivia (themselves). I slip an MP3 player in my pocket these days to reduce the chance of doing bird for very bad murder that foxes would be envious of.
Whilst I don't condone children misbehaving in the pub the above scenario has one group talking and socialising whilst in the corner some loner sits there with his headphones in. I know who I'd rather populated my local.
Mickmcd Love those two video's 😀

I take mine in and sit her next to me at the bar, where she'll probably contribute more to the adult conversation than the usual old soaks reading the Mail and whinging that we're not getting blue passports fast enough.

Because it’s really funny when you get them drunk...
Mickmcd..pure class ! 😆
Some kids cannot be controlled no matter how good a parent you are. And given that kids are part of the family (and can't be left at the door on a lead), not an accessory, then yes they will be going to pub lunches with the folks. At least they're not sitting on the seats with shitty arses or spreading dog hairs around a dining establishment...
OP, just go to another pub.
Mickmcd - also Loving the vids..... :-]
Those videos are class 😆
Back in the good old days we all knew our places- no kids or women in the pub.
Every car journey of over 2 hours seemed to involve a pub break for my father to head in for a beer or two. Mum and the kids waited patiently in the car, dad bought out soft drinks for the kids and an ouzo for my mother, and then headed back inside for half an hour or so.
Gave us a chance to have the car doors open for a while to clear the cigarette smoke out and my mother to empty the ashtray...
