I guess this applies to most rear derailleurs, but I have two questions

Can you change the cage on a short to a long just by changing the cage with no issues, i.e is the main body of the XTR Rear Derailleur exactly the same or is there any difference in the springs?

In this listing (not mine) for a new version/old RD-M952 if you look a the last picture of the B tension spring instructions it has two different types of spring but I'm not aware of why there is a difference? I was wondering if it had anything to do with SGS(long) vs GS (Short) https://www.ebay.com/itm/312769967627

I'm sure I'm making this more complicated than it is as it's much simpler surely if everything is interchangeable...?

Thanks orangeboy. So the only difference is cage length and the rest of the mech specs are exactly the same. Still don't know why there's two different type of springs however.
