Can I use one of these on an XT chain set and do they last any longer?

I use one on my XT chainsets. They're all interchangeable as far as I know.

Not had to replace any of mine yet so can't vouch for longevity. Having said that, at around £17 a pop at Rose I just look at them as disposable items these days so it doesn't bother me.

Like MrTall, I buy mine cheap from Germany, so just go for the top of the range XTR as a matter of course, as they are supposed to be sealed better and so last longer, and are only a couple of quid more than the SLX/XT level ones. And yes they're interchangeable - I've used XTR BBs with Deore, SLX and XT, in fact every type of HT-II crank except XTR!

Yes but don't bother. XT is just as good for a BB.

A lot of XT stuff actually works better than XTR IMO.

No less hopeless than XT for UK use ime.. disposable is the way I'd describe them. Pulled a couple apart and found the sealing is just as poor on XTR as XT, but there's a new XTR due out with improved sealing that may be worth a go.

Deore is entry level.

I just use XT and save a couple of £ to buy more.
