Hi all, after some recommendations .

Over the last year or so I've successfully ruined two pairs of jeans and three or for pairs of shorts.. So I'm looking at buying some bike specific trousers and shorts.

I have some cheap thin regatta over trousers that I wear over normal shorts or jeans for wet, and given the price of bike specific stuff, I was looking at endura humvee pants with detachable lowers so they can function as full trousers or shorts ... Seems a bit cheaper than buying both shorts and full length pants.. I don't think they are very water proof so figured I'd be able to still use the regatta water proofs over the top when needed.

Any opinions on these? Any alternative suggestions?

Thanks.

You go for an xc MTB ride in a pair of jeans? That's pretty cool - a lot to be said for the integration of cycling with one's regular garments. Alternatively, you could do things right and get a pair of lycra bib shorts.

Everything in between is a fatuous compromise.

Yeah, the integration was going well but my favorite combat shorts and jeans have worn out or split in the ahem... Saddle area.. .iIneeds something a bit harder wearing.

I'm not adverse to lycra type boxers or inners but I want casual style outers, but don't want really bright 'look at me I'm hard core' colourful pants.

Thanks again

Also I'd like to be able to wear said pants/shorts as normal very casual clothes as I'm cheap, and if I'm dropping fifty to a hundred quids they should bloody well be verstile!

I normally wear jeans, cargo shorts or swimming shorts, i don't particularly need padded lycra stuff

Thanks

I sometimes ware work shorts cycling, but for trousers when cold I use ronhill tracksters, less than 20 quid. Look auwful but I only ride them cycling.

What about some 5.11 shorts?
I've got some of their trousers for hiking etc and the build quality is superb.

I ride my road bike in normal jeans/shorts.
