I have a very knackered x7 10sp RD (1x10) on my winter bike that I need to replace. Cant seem to find any X7's anymore. Lots of GX 10spd derailleurs available (here) but they seem to be 2x. Might be a stupid question but is there any reason why this would not work with my 1x set up? Max tooth capacity is 36. I have 42/11, so a 31 tooth range I assume. Maybe it wont be able to handle all the chain slack?? Alternatively anyone got ideas on a semi budget 10spd RD?

I have a spare x7 in the garage somewhere if you want it for postage cost? I won’t be able to post til the weekend though - not a lot of miles on it from recollection so should be reasonable nick. Message me if you want it.

Wasn’t x7 designed for 2x anyway? I’d have thought the GX would be ok. I ran one with an 11-42 cassette and 32t chainring on my last bike fine.
