Just wondering what people's experiences are of using it? I've got a few months worth of power based training data now, if I load it all up what sort of things will it tell me or help me do? Thanks.
Anyone...?
I found it useful if you have power for all your rides as it works very cleverly, but as I only put less than 1/2 of my rides on it wasn't realy worth the extra.
I found the software that came free with the power tap to be more than adequate.
Long time user of both WKO+ and GC.
What you get from it, is directly proportional to how much you want to dig into the data.
If you just want to make charts and go 'oohh pretty' GC is fine. If you want to look at more, or are using it for coaching...WKO+ has its advantages.
However, WKO+ version 3 (IIRC) is utter bloat wear, made to look like training peaks, it sucks compared to its predecessor. There is also a new version coming out....they are not known for allowing you to transfer licences computer to computer BTW.
I still use GC V2 (Linux user) as it just works and is a little less faffy.
So, what do you want it for?
Also, if your a Mac user - look at Ascent.
Thanks Craig, not seen that, shall have a look. Works on mac too which is a bonus.
Currently just use gramin connect or training peaks to view the data. Just wondering what sort of more advanced analysis WKO+ can do. Found a few articles that I'm working through that are helping.
So, what do you want it for?
I'd be using it for self coaching (I'd probably be better off just finding a coach!) Coming to the end of a block of training and want to put together a new plan and I really just want to know what it could help me do or what sort of things it could tell me.
Sounded like they'd planned on merging it into TP and making it web based. Doesn't look like they've done this though.
Am a mac user so will check out Ascent. Thanks.
You've had it for a few months and not looked at any of it yet? ๐
I use trainingpeaks, works a charm for me.
Thanks. Digging into the charts on TP and things like the PMC chart looks like the sorts of things I'm after.
WKO+ user for 6-7 years here. I find it brilliant, both at digging down into individual sessions and also for long-term tracking/planning via the PMC (which is what I use it for most of all).
Version 2 was all you needed, version 3 with quadrant analysis etc is still great but some of the features really aren't relevant to most of us.
Thanks LS. The PMC in TP definitely seems useful. Having plugged in a load of data can immediately spot times I know I've over-trained. Quite surprising to see it so clearly as a graph. Probably enough data to look at for now.
From what I've heard of 3.0 I reckon I'll wait and see what they come out with for 4.0.
