I want to keep riding 3+ times a week during the winter and seeing as all the nice trails are going to get unridable I am thinking about converting my ride into a rigid road machine - rigid forks, winter wheels, spd's, etc

Has anyone ever done something like this before? I feel like it might be the way forward this winter...

might as well get a cheap winter road bike with proper mudguards etc, and save your mtb for when it freezes over and the fun can really start ๐Ÿ™‚

i did for a year, it was flippin great, but only because you ride stuff differently with fully rigid. then my shoulder started to hurt, the physio told me to lay off the rigid forks or damage the slippy slidey part of my shoulder. So i went to a full suss with mud tyres and figured i rather buy a new bearing than stop riding. shame cos fully rigid was a total blast. stuff lasts so long these days just enjoy it ๐Ÿ™‚
