Why has my copy of windows 7 decided it's not genuine? I don't know where my activation key is, why has it done this?

Will I need to buy a new copy?

Contact windows, and they'll ask you to take a pitcure of the case and disk along with the receipt on which you should write your signature. They will then send you an activation key for your copy over email...

This has happened several times to me with both XP and Vista, also with quite a few games to which I'd lost the case/code to 😳

I hope that's of some help 😀

Erm. Maybe. It's a legit copy, however we're in rented property whilst we get our house done, I'll never fond it in all those boxes in the garage, if I have it at all. 🙁

Have you changed any hardware in the PC recently. I think this can cause issues. Talk to Microsoft, they should be able to help.

Allegedly.

Failing that try ubuntu.

I'm running 7 professional at the mo myself...

I found this out while working at a local computer repair workshop during the course of last year and we'd lost several cases and key's along the way, Windows/Microsoft were very generous in sending us the codes once they'd seen that we, as well as the copies were legit 🙂

Give it a try 🙂
