I did a 24hr solo again a couple of weeks ago, and started thinking. Not sure how much time I spent stationary in the pits just sitting and eating. Would have done better if I could have kept moving. However, I couldn't not eat. Then I invented something.
Would it be possible to hook up a camelback-type gadget with an intrevenous drip on the end of the pipe so that one is fed constantly as one is riding alon? One's pit helpers could then just top it up every lap, takes 30secs rather than the 5mins it takes to eat pasta and doughnuts.
Also, I saw lots of people with really bright lights (no surprises there). Is there a good reason why no-one uses night-vision goggles instead?
Night vision is bulky and heavy. Being fed through a tube is not pleasant, less so when you're exercising heavily
Night vision goggles give you really pants depth perception as well.
