Hi all

Planning a trip in the summer for my birthday on the sdw, plan to park somewhere like qecp in petersfield and ride for 3-4 hours in the evening before camping on/ near the trail and in the morning retracing my steps.

So does anyone have any suggestions for camping spots off the sdw approx 3 -4 hours on from petersfield, email in profile if you'd rather they were not public knowledge.

Thanks in advance

We bivi'd somwhere just after Harting Down, after a few beers in the Hooksway pub, but I guess that is not far enough from QECP. On the next night we bivi'd near Brighton Uni, but that is probably too far from QECP.

Both spots were practically on the SDW. Didn't see a sole until about 8 each morning. Had no bother. Left no trace.

Can't help on specific camping spots but I'm not sure i would choose qecp to leave my car overnight.

I would probably leave it somewhere populated like Petersfield and then ride from there to join the sdw. Can get up to the back of qecp pretty quickly from there.

Only other thing i would say is there are some rumours of less than cheery land owners so make sure you are up, tidied and away early in the morning and I would probably stay away from field edges and favour more wooded bits if I was planning something similar.

Cheers for the replies guys, and especially for the suggestions thom.

Probably would ride from petersfield as I have family there so it's an obvious starting point for me and an opportunity to go a bit further than I've been before on the sdw.
