Well on my quest for a new ride I have narrowed it down to these two as I really like them. I just can't get on was contemplating a full suss but I just don't think I'd use it to its potential, not for a few years yet at least. . Now both the above seem similar specced except the 26er is £300 cheaper but the 29er seems to have a higer specced fork. Now I've heard good things about 29ers and just wondering which would be better. Rides are mainly Gisburn, twisty forest trails and some local gravel path riding for fitness and the odd trip to Rivi and up onto Darwen more. Which of these to would be better suited?
both would be great i reckon, latest 29ers are good for twisty stuff now the geometry is sorted, its boring i know but the only way to be sure is to ride both and see which you prefer
As RD said, you need to test them, and decide which is for you, don't let pure 'spec' rule your decision, yes take it into consideration but the feel of the bike is more important.
I tried a 729 and thought it brilliant, but haven't tried many other 29er to compare. Even though marketing may suggest the 26er is dead, that doesn't suddenly make them bad bikes that should no longer be considered, both have admirable attributes.
It's an annoying response, but a test ride is your best answer... my own personal issue, is I can't get a shop demo & the bloody model will be sold out soon if I don't pull my finger out... grrrr
