It's all in the title , more or less.
whos spe?
uh
Am assuming this means Specialized.
If so, the answer to "Why" is that they appear to have backed the wrong niche and are trying to jump on the bandwagon quicksmart.
Spécialized, il case it's for real.

Sorry for the accent on the e, here in France it's become a habit.
Surely you know if you joined specifically to post the question
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if they have ordered a load it's because they're going to start doing 650b bikes...
No i do'nt know, i'm just fishing. 😉
Specialized aren't stupid, they're pushing 29ers but if the world wants 650b then they're going to sell it aren't they.
Maybe they need to find a new market for their legal team to entertain themselves in
Secondly WGAS what they do
Your probable right northwind but i would like to find someone in the know.
So, you 'know' that they've ordered 650b carbon wheels, and yet you felt the need to sign up to this forum to find someone more in the know about why?
Hmm.
If you don't mind me asking where are you in France?
theyve got a 650b enduro coming out midseason according to a friend
they could also be trying out a 650b Demo
Ah thats what i've herd Kimbers.
I'm near Toulouse.
No, you've already lost.
Sorry LsD dont get your post.
Guessing he's in the Tarn. The departement (No.81) not the river, obviously 😉
Spot on ocrider.
buying up stock to restrict supply.
Maybe it's a typo and they have 3,253 bikes they need wheels for.
So long as they don't call the bikes Roubaix, they'll be fine 😛
why would Spé order 650b carbon wheels?
i would like to find someone in the know.
Ah thats what i've herd Kimbers.
I'd love to know if the OP's IP address relates to one of Specialized competitors/suppliers...
Guessing he's in the Tarn. The departement (No.81) not the river, obviously
How did you guess that? Amazing! 😆
Isnt it just!
I am over the other side near Aix but my wife is from Toulouse , have just been over their for xmass do you ride in foret de bouconne and if so how do rate it .
66deg, in the 13 rather than the 66. How rebellious 😀
I met a one of the reps for Specialized UK riding one of the very rare (in the UK) carbon enduro 29ers and he said the company were definitely looking hard at 650b. that was Nov 2013
Tarn is where a company Alvarez used to be . they are/were the main distributors for Specialized in France .
I am from aveyron .
Thanks for the feed catvet. It's true that the Spe enduro is having some critics state side for having a too long wheelbase lengh. People riding wild alp trails will understand.
Hi cchris2lou where are you in Aveyron? Theres some good spots in the area.
OP - mavic employee letting world know carbon wheels coming and specialized are oem'ing them?
I am from Millau, but living in Kent at the moment .....
Maybe to patent the design then send threatening legal letters out? ****ers
Hummm guess i'll have to wait a see like everybody else. 😕
I see that there making tyres for there 27"5 wheels 😉
Juste joint for thé wheels.
http://www.nsmb.com/specialized-quietly-goes-650b/
Sea otter would be my guess for the unveiling of a stumpy or enduro (or both) 650b.
or they are just going to sell people tyres
Are we supposed to be terribly surprised that Specialized are going to do the absolutely inevitable?
Still it's good news for 650b owners to get a better range of tyres to choose from, can't come too soon.
while we are on the subject of rumour and speculation I was chatting to a bloke who knows a geezer who has a cousin who was having a beer with a guy who works in shipping who said he delivered some 26" wheels to Spec's secret test facility last month and Princess Di was working on reception and Elvis was doing the unloading.
You heard it here first
It's true that the Spe enduro is having some critics state side for having a too long wheelbase lengh. People riding wild alp trails will understand.
Eh? What critics? The Enduro 29" has a shorter wheelbase than most 650b AM bikes and they're sold out! Pinkbike and Vital bike of the bloomin year!
But yeah 650b SJ Evo and Enduro coming. They held out on the marketing size as long as possible but you can't give away 26" bikes to dealers Stateside these days. Shame.
If anyone can afford to run a large enough range to encompass all three wheel sizes, it's Specialized.
