[Closed] Why are Recon Gold forks so expensive?

[#4767799]

I've just bought myself a nice new pair of Reba RTL forks for £299; they're probably OEM and were well discounted. My partner's not such a keen cyclist as myself, but I thought that I might suprise her with some new forks for her bike to replace the nasty (and very heavy) Recon Silver coil forks. The obvious choice seemed to be Recon Gold solo air forks, but whereever I look they seem to be priced around about the same as Rebas (and are sometime more expensive). With Motion Control and solo air they seem to be a very similar fork to the Reba and I can't quite see what separates them.

Is there anywhere that's selling cheapish OEM Recon Golds? I'd be looking for an air spring and an aluminium steerer but would settle for Turn Key lockout (80-100mm standard 1 1/8" steerer)?

There was, I got a pair of 100mm recon gold solo six months or so ago from On-one for £169. Brilliant forks for that price and i've since removed a spacer for 120mm travel. Not seen any rivalling that since sorry.

On-One is where I got my Rebas from. They have some Recon Silver forks for £169, but sadly on in 29er, I'd want one for a 26".

I did see Rebas at On-One there for £249 but they're for tapered steerer otherwise I might have been tempted again. The Recon golds have alloy steerers and stanchions, the silvers alloy steerer and steel stanchions. Yeah the coils are even heavier.

Recon Gold cost about the sames as the cheapest Rebas, about £250 OE maybe
