I love my Solaris, but have always rather wished Cotic made a ti version. I'm tempted by the Pegasus in the classifieds, but not having ridden one am a bit concerned that it won't be as much of a fun all rounder as the Solaris. Has anyone ridden both? I've got 100mm forks which I'd swap over. I have this sense in my head that the Solaris is probably more agile and forgiving on tighter more technical trails, but have got no idea whether that's true. Anyone?
I have a Pegasus, it's a beautiful frame and supremely agile due to having very short chainstays. That said, it's not the stiffest frame and so doesn't have the huckability of steel frame with similar geometry, but it does somewhat offset this by its weight loss. I've not ridden a Solaris, but have ridden an IF with similar geometry.
Cheers Daffy. Does the lack of stiffeness mean it doesn't track all that well, or is it more that it makes the back a bit springy? I had a Soda before the Solaris which always felt quite whippy at the back, but felt that added to its agility.
Any other experiences?
I might be interested in the Solaris if you do decide to move it on ๐
I also had a Soda, an 08/09 if I remember correctly. The Pegasus is MUCH stiffer than the Soda. I never got on with the Soda, there was too much flex at both the head tube and bottom bracket. The Pegasus is stiffer at the front and the bottom bracket, possibly due to the larger BB shell.
If you enjoyed your Soda, you'll love the Pegasus. It's the only 29er I've ridden that has close to the agility of a LT26er, allbeit with less travel.
Hope it helps.

I my Sodas were later, and didn't feel noodley. Like the sound of it. Problem is I like my Solaris so much...
