Eldest lad wanted a training ride in Bowland, so we had a rather blowy 3.5 hours whilst everyone sensible was probably sheltering in Gisburn Forest. North over Cross of Greet (tailwind) to Wray and then back off road over Salter Fell / Hornby Road. Massive crosswind on the limit of rideable and rather wet crossing the top. Didn't see any MTBs and just one walker. 51km and 1000m climbing - not great prep for CX tomorrow.....

Managed a 35 mile road ride around the edge of The Bowland fells, Lancashire. Rather blowey in places, what the wind gives in one hand it takes away in another

A ride on the beaches to the north of Spurn Point. Dead easy one way, not so easy the other! Not a drop of rain until we got back on the M62.

In fact, the weather's really been quite amenable for late October; come to Scotland, it's lovely!

I cycled from Castle Douglas to Dumfries to get the train home after a weeks holiday. Stopped for a cream cake in a bus shelter, when a guy gardening in the house opposite said hello. It was raining and blowing a gale at the time, but I said we’d been lucky over the week with the weather, the look on his face almost had my wife pissing herself 🙂
Saw my first ever otter, worth all the wind and rain!

very windy but missed the rain, Mary Ann Hobbs in my ears.

This is the best description of rain I have ever read

Great day up round over Loughrigg Fell yesterday. Drove home today as didn't fancy a muddy day.

Where was that Bikebouy? I used to be a windsurf addict but have been dry for about 6 years now 😉
Camber was my local beach. Days like that used to scare me silly but were so epic!

rode to work this morning, was absolutely flying... like crazy speed, i was averaging 25mph until i rode into the wind... ah... that's why i was so fast then.... still averaged 21mph on the overall ride in... going home in an hour or so, hopefully it's a bit less blowy now

Wow, yeah, gorgeous pic that first one. Love the angle on the river winding away into the hills.

Friday:
Lovely ride through South Devon to pick up the bits I needed to fix the electrics on my truck.
[img] [/img]

Saturday:
Ran (& walked) the Salcombe Coastal Marathon.
Some of the time it rained ...
[img] [/img]

... & some of the time it didn't:
[img] [/img]
Got gusts of 118 km/h (& I actually saw, (but didn't photograph) 122 km/h):
[img] [/img]

Sunday:
I wasn't sure that 10 hilly miles on a single speed bike was the best-ever recovery idea after Saturdays marathon, but ... nevertheless, took my Unit out for 10 hilly, muddy miles in the countryside.
[img] [/img]

That stream crossing adventure ^ looks great fun (probably didn't feel quite like that at the time tho')

🙂

Took my eldest out for a spin and took him to his favorite cough "restaurant" for dinner..

Armed with lights rode back through the local trails and woods for a little night ride, surprisingly the trails are pretty dry.

Holyhead to Bristol, started Friday night 10pm, stopped in Menai Bridge that night, then Rhayadar last night. Yesterday was horrendous, today was almost enjoyable.

Rode the golfie for the first time. Felt like a complete novice. Changed my position on the bike and had more success. Just need to remember my brave pills next time.

Had 9 brave souls turn out for my FLAB ride, 27 miles on the lanes across south Derbyshire and bits of Leicestershire.

Was windy, lumpy and I probably should have knocked the big hill in the middle on the head and shortened it by 2-3 miles, but everyone battled round. A good café stop is always good for morale!

I managed 38 minutes at Golfie before an OTB left me with a cut on my chin needing 4 stitches. Thanks to the guys who stopped to see if I was alright.

North Downs yesterday afternoon. Cashed in some hard-earned brownie points over Fri/Sat. Back home for roast pig with all the trimmings. Epic
