Have a wheelset in the shed with old Stan's Crest rims in white. Hate the white... anyone painted a set? Would be a scuff with light sandpaper then a satin black rattle can job, I'd imagine, nothing fancy.

I've seen them stripped back to bare alloy and then lacquered before... Looks really good. 👌🏻

Yeah, silver look not for me, esp with the bike they'd go onto.

Thinking the spray is easy enough, just wondering if it will last

Could you get them powder coated?

bails

Be almost the same cost as replacing, I'd imagine, would involve dismantling & rebuilding the wheel on top of the coating.

Am thinking quick and cheap here

I'm minded to get the sharpies out on one of mine. I may not post the results if the outcome is mirthful.

Not sure sharpie will last if you get them wet

If anyone figures out how to get the white off I'd be interested as I've got a pair too. The black is anodized but the white was powder-coated IIRC so solvents won't work.

A lot of elbow grease and some wet/dry will work. But not much fun. Could you just lightly sand them and spray them with black (other colours are available) rattle can?
