I realise that may split opinion, and clearly it depends on the bike, but every time I see a bike with white forks on I always wonder they black ones weren't fitted

Black would usually look so much better, especially as most of the kit (apart from the frame) is usually black

Just don't get white forks

[unless of course they're really cheap at which point the case for them is much clearer]

They do look inferior, but I have to let them fly based on my rule of "All bike bits must be black, with the exception of the frame and forks which can be any colour you like". If you let those with no taste have white forks it will hopefully stop them having gold anodized shit everywhere.

Oh...

But my bike has white logo's, pedals etc, so white forks look 'right'.

All the photos so far have made my point for me, thanks 😛

(Apart from one, which is just acceptable, and black would still look better. Not saying which though...)

(I will admit to having sinned with white forks myself in the past, because they were the cheapest ones available in that colour. In my defence, they do look far worse now a lot of them have black stanchions)

I hated my white Forks. So while the frame was away for repainting, I repainted stripped the forks and painted them satin black with 2015 Fox heritage decals

I wouldn't buy white forks, they show the battle scars and scuffs all too easily.

Best of both worlds - black forks with white bits?

[img] [/img]

Got them to match the front hub which was a cheap mismatched wheelset from Superstar with white front and black rear.

when Specialized gave me a warranty frame after finding a crack, it turned up and was bright red.

then my black Fox forks started creaking in the CSU out of warranty, and I found some white Manitous going cheap on CRC.

they actually look much better with my red frame, than the black Fox forks did

I don't think I've owned a pair of black forks

Quadra 21 were yellow, pair of Dukes that were dark blue, Some lurid Green Marz things, original Fox were silver, couple of Magura models that were white, then a pair of white Lyriks and now white Revs...

Edit, and a set of Red Manitous X verts

I don't mind the white forks on my High Latitude. Black would possibly look a bit better but it's what the bike came with and I'm not swapping them just because of the colour 🙂

White forks? Fine.

White forks with black stanchions? Pass the eye bleach.

Only Tracey's stumpy pulls it off because of the black/white frame.

It's a sad state of affairs when the Two Permissible Colours of forks are (1) white or (2) black.

Colour-matching looks great:

[img] [/img]

Contrast looks great:

[img] [/img]

Wow! also looks great:

[img] [/img]

Of the Two Permissible Colours, I prefer white, except when black is better. Black is often better.

🙂

Well done bigdummy. You've blown the OP's point out of the water. What forks looks lovely compared with that horrible red and green combo.

Fair point. In my defence, I thought they were orange. Which, of course, also looks epic:

Epic. Epic. Epic.

Why did this happen? When did everyone decide that there were only Two Permissible Fork Colours? Why on earth were they (1) Black and (2) White? Couldn't they at least have been (1) Buttercup Yellow and (2) Iridescent Red? The world is a sadder, poorer place with these monochrome suspension component conventions....

🙂

Whoever said I should have called this thread 'show me pics of your white forks' was right, that would have been a more apt title

I'm not fundamentally opposed to coloured forks either, as long as the colour scheme goes with the rest of the bike - I like that Ros 9 above

I'm also not against the build and ride it approach, and not worrying about colour

But looking at some of the pics it seems that effort was put into the rest of the bike, and then you painted your forks with tipp-ex

(White forks with a white frame for me)

Had to be white for my forks....... (they only come in white) because they're the smoothest silky forks available.
They also add to my already silly bling colour scheme.

Everyone wanted white forks a few years back, what's wrong with 'em? I assume it's down to fashion so expect the OP to start a thread in a year or two where they get upset with black forks, especially those with black stanchions.

colournoise - is your Alpine a 26er? I fancy a change from my 26er Five and can't be faffed with changing my wheels and forks... What do you reckon to it? If I got one it'd have to be one of the very last ones before the 27.5 as the swingarms etc are a little more 'refined' than the earlier Alpines...

Basically the same bike, just different components...

Black bike, white forks, black stanchions:

[img] [/img]

White bike, white forks, black stanchions:

[img] [/img]

on the black bike, I am considering painting the forks black / dark grey... but I am not sure I can be bothered to be honest, and not even sure it will look 'better'.

FWIW, both forks bought for their function, not their colour. There was no colour option with them.
