The FSA Orbit Z in my GT i-Drive 5 got all crusty about 6 months ago, so I replaced it with another Orbit Z. This one seems to be either really stiff to turn the bars, or really loose, with only a tiny twist of the preload bolt between the two.
So I'm looking for an alternative. Anyone got any recommendations?
CRC are doing an FSA Orbit ZR-CC for about £30 which seems like a bargain, as everywhere else are charging nearer £90 for them, but I can't seem to find any info on it or any reviews.
Has anyone come across Aireal Australia components? I've seen their EV-i headset on offer for £20. Anyone got experience with them?
Thanks!
K
AFAIK Aireal are no longer in business, but IIRC the headsets they made are held in high regard.
I don't know if it qualifies as "zero stack" but I got a "Crank Brothers Cobalt C XC" for just over £50 with a £5 Wiggle voucher off a kind STW-er.
I could scarcely bear to fit it it looked so nice in the box 🙄
Thanks househusband - that will explain why their website is dead then. Shame. Think I might take a punt on it.
Munkster - that looks like a standard headset. Zero-stack ones have the bearing races fitted inside the headtube.
Hope one is good, I've been using for a good while with no issues.
Would love a Hope one - a little too expensive for my budget though 🙁
Dare I mention the Superstar word? Not seen much slagging of their headsets...does that mean they're good (enough)?
Oh dear, I mentioned Superstar 🙂
But seriously - I'd really like to hear your zero-stack headset experiences - what's good, what's not...?
I've got an older cane creek one, and it's ok. The newer ones have better sealing so are improved too.
