Yes, I have used the search function before someone tells me to.

I think I could do with one (taking a chain off is way too involved for me), which I will probably use with paraffin. Therefore, I would like a robust one!

Anyone?

I use the Park Tools one. 1st class, but you can't beat getting the chain off for cleaning other bits.

Old toothbrush and some bio-degradable de-greaser does the job for me (when I can be bothered).

I've not cleaned a chain in years other than when generally washing the bike
I use Rock 'N' Roll extreme lube so the chain is always shiny & clean, chains seem to last a good bit longer than when I used conventional lubes.

I like Green Oil's chain cleaner. A few drops on the chain, ride around for a bit, rinse with cold water, et voila - shiny clean chain ready for oiling.

I second the green chain cleaner stuff. Drip it onto the chain, go for a cup of tea, then scrub the chain with a toothbrush or similar and rinse. Works nicely and does not contaminate the garden with nasty chemicals.

As an aside, I have also been pleasantly surprised by the performance of the green oil - works well and smells nice too.
